Our Skylanders Hunting Adventure
This weekend My son Jake and I headed off into Town to search and seek out the final 3 Skylanders we needed to complete our Skylanders Swap Force Collection.
Whenever we go out to find certain Skylander Figures, 90% of the time we come home empty handed, so we were hopeful this trip would be fruitful, but at the same time you don’t want to get a child’s hopes up too much to then come home empty handed.
Today we attempted to seek out Firebone Hotdog, A Skylander that was exclusive to Game. I had tried everyday on line to get this, I had visited the stores on lots of occasions and always come home empty handed and frustrated.
We also needed a new Skylander that had just been released here in the UK, Skylanders Doom Stone. We had no idea if this was an exclusive to a certain store or even if these would be out on the shelves to purchase yet. So getting Doom Stone was a long shot!
The final Skylander Swapforce we had on our list was Skylanders Freeze blade. We already have the Nitro Freeze blade that was exclusive to Tesco, as we not only play with the figures in- game, but we collect them too. We needed this one to add to the Swap Force collection.
How did We do on our Hunt?
We did amazing, Our best Skylanders hunt ever!
Our first port of call was to Game where on the off chance we asked the staff at the tills if they had any Firebone Hotdog figures, The man in Game went through the lines of Skylanders stored behind the tills, Just when he was on the last line of Skylanders to be checked did he pull a Firebone Hotdog out. You can imagine how excited and relieved we were that we had found this pretty hard to find Skylanders figure.
Unfortunately, they did not have neither the Freeze blade or the new Doom Stone at Game So on to the next store to check that was Smyths Toys. Only the night before Smyths was showing Doom Stone as being in stock, yet could not guarantee an on the shelf promise at my local store.
So it was back in the car as we left the City Centre shops and headed to our local Smyths at a shopping retail park.
Jake was so excited, he had left the car and was already through the door of Smyths whilst I was locking the car. Smyths have a fantastic, well designed Skylanders area, decorated in a Sklyanders theme with consoles out to play the game on and a massive range of various Skylanders. The question is, Did they have the ones we wanted?
Yes, they did, Both of them!
We found the last Doom Stone in the store, The icing on the cake was when we found a Freeze Blade too! The figures in Smtyhs were on 3 for 2 and even the starter packs on all consoles were only £29.99. Perfect for anyone just starting out.
What a successful day we had, We went home happy and excited to play the new figures on the Swap Force Game and see them come to life!
Until our next Skylander Hunt

Cant wait for my kids to be into this so much about .
Sounds a bit like hide and seek, or a treasure hunt :- Just to find the models for the collection. Smyths sounds like a great store to venture to for toys etc. Hope Jake has lots of fun with his toy collection etc.
My kids are mad on Skylanders but I do wish they would make up their minds as to which skylander they are going to use on the Xbox. It’s a source of constant bickering between my two youngest!
Oh no that must be terrible, children bickering over the game. My boys used to do this, so I limited there time and gave them slots for playing the characters in the game.
My son is really into skylanders right now so thanks for the extra, much needed ,info.
My son is obsessed with Skylanders (I have to admit Im a fan myself lol) Our Skylander hunting usually ends with us coming home with not who we went out to get! But fun nonetheless.
