4 Ways You Can Help Your Little One Get A Good Night Rest

September 21, 2021 | 1 Comment

Have you recently brought your newborn bundle of joy home? If so, then you might have already discovered that babies have a lot of trouble sleeping through the night. So, let’s look at some sleep tips for babies that can improve the situation and help them get a great night of sleep so they aren’t grumpy throughout the day.

Sleep tips for babies – Dream Feeding

Part of the reason why babies struggle to get a good night of sleep is due to the fact that they tend to get hungry through the night. So, they wake up and need feeding which isn’t fun at all because it can be a struggle to get them to go back to sleep. You can try to dream feeding them. By dream feeding, you can give them their milk without actually waking them up. That way, they aren’t disturbed at all and don’t wake up in the morning still feeling tired.

Great Tech

You might also want to consider adding some tech to help your little one sleep better at night. Babies can be soothed in a variety of ways. For instance, you can rock them to sleep while some babies respond well to gentle music. That’s why you should think about getting them a mobile for their crib. With a mobile, you can provide them with the music they need for a good night of sleep. Some of these also provide lots of different types of sounds. This means that you’ll always be able to find the perfect option for your little one.

Sleep tips for babies – Blankets And Swaddles

When they are little, you can’t give your baby a duvet or a pillow. This can be a health and safety hazard. Don’t forget, babies can’t regulate their temperatures, so it’s important they don’t get too hot or cold. You can avoid temperature issues at night by making sure that you have a healthy supply of blankets to hand. Baby swaddles can also be great. A baby swaddle wrap is the perfect way to ensure that your little one doesn’t have to deal with their natural startle reflex. It can also help calm a baby experiencing colic which can be a real problem for new parents.

Sleep tips for babies – Stick To A Schedule

Finally, babies are certainly creatures of habit. They don’t like it when things change and will probably respond negatively. That’s why you should choose a sleeping schedule for your little one and try to stick with it. Small changes won’t have a massive impact. But any significant change could cause a disturbance for your baby that you will want to avoid if you can. This includes getting them up and sending them to bed at the same time each night. Naps should also be somewhere other than their bed to stop them from getting confused about when they need to go to sleep for longer.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you can take to guarantee that your newborn does get a great night of sleep. Remember, this is going to help you a lot too. It will mean that you won’t be up every other hour which can be exhausting for anyone, especially a new parent.
