Breastfeeding vs. Bottle Milk: The Pros and Cons

July 19, 2021 | Leave a Comment

It’s an age-old debate: should mothers breastfeed, or feed their child bottle milk or formula? As with most things, there’s no right answer. It will depend on the mother and child. While many experts do recommend breastfeeding if possible, there are so many excellent formulas out there that if other is unable to breastfeed, their child will still be getting the nutrients they need through such a formula. However, as with most things, there are pros and cons to both sides. If you’re struggling to decide which option is best for you and your baby, hopefully, this will help you get the information you need to make an informed decision.

Bottle feeding pro: nutrients

Feeding your baby by using formula does have its pros. Unfortunately, some mothers are unable to breastfeed, even if they want to. Other mothers may just not want to breastfeed. Luckily, their babies won’t be deprived of important nutrients. If a mother is unable to produce enough milk for her baby, that baby may not be getting the nutrients they need. Baby formula is thus a great alternative to make sure that babies are still getting everything they need to be healthy, especially when using a formula like Alula S-26 Gold Baby Formula.

Bottle feeding con: allergies

The unfortunate part of bottle feeding is that some babies may have allergic reactions to a specific type of baby milk formula. Of course, this can usually be rectified by switching over to another type of formula, but it’s still scary when your baby is having an allergic reaction, especially if it’s a severe reaction. It’s important to know what to do if your child has an allergic reaction. Even if your child isn’t allergic to bottle milk, it’s still handy to know the care instructions.

Breastfeeding pros: antibodies

Many women avoid breastfeeding because of other people’s attitudes towards it. But you shouldn’t let that stop you. The reason why it is advised that most mothers try to breastfeed, at least in the early months of their baby’s life, is the fact that breastfeeding provides a baby not only with the nutrients they need but also with a lot of antibodies. These antibodies may reduce your baby’s chances of getting certain diseases. Of course, baby formulas are improving all the time, meaning that even if it’s not possible to breastfeed, it is still entirely possible to raise a healthy baby.

Breastfeeding cons: It can be hard

As mentioned, some women can’t breastfeed for whatever reason, and if that is the case, formula is the way to go – and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it! A big con of breastfeeding is the fact that many women may struggle with it. Some women may be able to breastfeed, but struggle to produce enough milk, or find that it is very painful to do. In these cases, breastfeeding could actually affect the mother’s physical and mental health, which is not an ideal situation at all.
