Updating my Home decor seems to have been the theme of my 2015. After suffering from a major leak in January, I seem to have spent the year fixing and redecorating the whole of my downstairs. I did love the old slightly eclectic home decor style I had in my home, so was very upset to see it all ruined and to have to start again from scratch.
After the initial drying out stage, It was time to think about what style I wanted my home to have and what it would say about me. I really felt overwhelmed by the amount of work we had ahead of us and was so confused with what style I wanted my home decor to have, so you can imagine how happy I was to be asked to join the Graham & Brown’s ambassador group for 2015.
Home Decor – The Trends throughout the Year
Each month we were set a challenge to put our spin and thoughts on different trends from The Discovery Trend to my personal favourite The Precious Trend.
Every trend made me think of the way I decorate my home in a different way, I started to find planning and decorating became easier and I actually started to find a new love for redesigning each room in my home and getting excited to see the looks come alive before my eyes.
In June, I learnt all about the Popsicle Trend which opened my eyes to a home decor look that I previously would not have taken a second glance at. Now, I have taken elements from this look and used the colours to add accessories in my home which I surprisingly really love and have brought so many fond memories from my childhood flooding back!
The Eureka trend helped me add some fun character into my home decor. The best part of the Eureka trend is the colours. It takes on all the colours of the rainbow, so there really are no restrictions here. The only key is colour blocking. Using definite lines and shapes to organise bright colours and create beautiful, bold statements in your room.
I added bright bold bedding to my Teenage sons room, I love how the colours compliment each other without being overpowering but whilst still adding a fun, colourful and playful vibe to the room.
I was inspired by this theme to pick out this eclectic style lighting to add a Wow factor to my desk area.
After 12 long, gruelling months, we finally have a living room and hallway we are proud of once again and was ready for Christmas Day.
I have learnt so many fantastic ideas as part of The Graham & Brown ambassador group that have helped me shape the way my home looks now. It has also given me some great ideas for future home decor projects in my bedroom and bathroom that I aim to update in 2016.
