Trading Card Games: All The Hidden Benefits for everyone

May 8, 2015 | Leave a Comment

Trading Card Games also known as TCG have become so popular over the last 10 years or so and I for one am a huge fan. Think about it, kids these days generally prefer to use their computer consoles to entertain themselves when they are at home. Trading card games have so many more benefits which have helped my children learn, gain social skills and most of all still have plenty of fun whilst playing. Card games can provide families, friends and children with hours of entertainment and If you have never heard of Trading Card Games or you would love to get your kids started I will tell you everything you need to know.

Our Trading Card Game Story.

My teenage son has always had a huge interest in collectible trading card games. He began collecting them along with his older brother at a very young age. As a treat we would visit specialist trading card stockists to purchase Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Each Christmas my childrens list’s are comprised of trading cards games and accessories such as playmats, deck boxes and card sleeves. They particularly loved the special edition sets and tins that were released every season and my kids would save their pocket money to buy the latest releases in the hope of finding rare cards and making their own card decks stronger.

Join a TCG Club.

When my son first started collecting trading cards he collected just Pokemon cards, when  his collecting quickly turned into playing the pokemon trading card game. He would often ask me to be his opponent, which of course I did yet when he won every match It soon became apparent he needed a more challenging opponent. After a quick search online, I found a local club in our area that ran an official Pokemon trading card games club. This weekly event soon turned into his sanctuary where he felt at ease, enjoying his hobby with like minded people.

When the club was at risk of closing down, I came to the conclusion that to save the club I would take over and become a Pokemon Leader although I was a total amateur at the game compared to some.

All the kids gave me intensive training in how to play the game. We even began to include Yu-Gi-Oh too, another of the popular collectible trading card games.

I soon became a rival opponent for my son. Even when the club ended and I hung up my Pokemon cap, my son has carried on playing and collecting both Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards. You can search online or find in the local newspaper clubs near you, we currently attend at patriot games in Leeds to attend tournaments which are run on a weekly basis. You could find a similar club near you simply by searching online for trading card games clubs.

The Trading Card Games Latest Arrivals.

As he got older he has even started collecting and attending clubs for Card fight Vanguard and Future card buddy fight which are two of the latest collectable trading card games to come directly from from Japan.

He loves attending Pre-releases where he gets a sneak peak at the new cards that will be released the following week. At the moment he is extremely impressed with the gold series packs and he says ‘I HAVE PULLED SOME GREAT CARDS OUT FROM MY LAST TWO BOXES’. Take a look at my son unboxing Pokemon TCG X Y Furious Fists Elite Trainer Box, so you know what to expect when you open special edition card sets.

Our home is filled with old and new cards, some of which are extremely collectable. I can not see a time when his collecting of trading cards will ever end, I just hope as he gets older he learns to put them away!

Trading card games are educational.

They encourage and need children/Adults to use Maths skills, players need to make quick calculations in their head, often involving numbers in their thousands.

The game involves plenty of Reading as each card will have a different instruction. It is extremely important to the game that you choose the right card. With benefits to reading comprehension, forward planning, patience, critical thinking whilst also teaching social skills, fair play and good sportsmanship from an early age.

For some people getting their hands on collectable trading cards can prove difficult as they are so few stores left that sell them. We find purchasing Collectable Trading cards and accessories Online is a fantastic option. You can normally pick the cards and accessories up much cheaper and have a greater selection to choose from.

TCG players also love Tactical Board Games.

My son has now started collecting Star Wars X-wing miniatures, perfect for any Star Wars fan. This is not a TCG style game but you will find many trading card game players also love tactical board games too. Trading Card Games: All The Hidden Benefits for everyone - Star Wars X Wing Miniatures Game

Whilst playing X Wing Star Wars Miniatures game, you take the role of a squad leader and command a group of rebel pilots in ship-to-ship space combat. You can play with a couple of spacecrafts to large conflicts. Have fun Selecting your ships, pick your crew and plan your attack and complete your mission. A great game to collect and purchase add on pieces to expand your fleet. I predict X Wing Star Wars ships and accessories will be on this years Christmas List.
