4 People You’ll Need When Building Your First Home

January 10, 2022 | Leave a Comment

The day you buy your first house is the best feeling in the world. You’ve finally reached this goal of homeownership, and now it’s time to start building! While there are many people that can help you build your home, they’re not all necessary. There will be four main people involved with your construction project: a contractor, an architect, a land surveyor, and an engineer. This blog post will provide information on what they do for your new home and why they are essential to have on board!

Building Your First Home – Contractor

The first person you’ll need on your team is a contractor. This is the person who will be in charge of getting the job done and making sure everything goes according to plan. They will manage all of the workers, materials, and schedules for your home build. You’ll want to make sure that you have a good relationship with your contractor so that there are no surprises or problems along the way!

In addition, your contractor will also be responsible for the final inspection and ensuring that your home is up to code. Make sure you have a contract in place that outlines the responsibilities of both you and your contractor!

Building Your First Home – Architect

The next person that you’ll need on your team is an architect. The job of the architect will be to draw up all necessary blueprints and specs for your home build. In addition, architects are usually responsible for drawing up plans, obtaining a permit from the city, writing out building codes, and ensuring that everything meets code requirements. Of course, this means they should have a good understanding of zoning regulations as well!

In addition, architects can also offer advice about what might or might not work in certain spaces within your house – this is important if there are any areas where getting to with construction may be tricky (i.e., tight corners). So, for example, they could help advise you which spaces would make sense to fit windows into or how high kitchen counters should go based on your needs.

Building Your First Home – Land Surveyor

The next person you’ll need on your team is a land surveyor. The main responsibility of the land surveyor will be to make sure that all building permits are up-to-date, valid, and legal for what it is you’re trying to build. They may also do some basic drawings or sketches when necessary, but they won’t necessarily design anything major or in-depth like an architect would!

In addition, if there’s any doubt about where property boundaries lie, then this should be sorted out by a professional before construction starts! It can save time later on down the line if everyone knows exactly where their property lines are at the start, so no one gets hit with unexpected fines from zoning authorities.

Building Your First Home – Engineer

The last person you’ll need on your team is an engineer. This person’s main responsibility will be to make sure that the foundation and framing of your home are sound and up to code. Of course, they may also help with designing aspects of your home – like the electrical system – but this isn’t always their main focus.

In addition, engineers can also help if you’re looking to make some energy-efficient upgrades to your home down the road. For example, they could recommend adding insulation or a new heating/cooling system that would save you money in the long run!

In conclusion, by having these four people on your team, you’ll have a much better chance at making sure that everything goes smoothly and according to plan! They will be responsible for different aspects of the build, so it’s important to make sure all their contracts are up-to-date.
