Cosy And Chic: Winter Style Hacks For Your Home

December 21, 2022 | Leave a Comment

Winter is well and truly upon us. Temperatures are tumbling, it’s dark in the middle of the afternoon and many of us are swapping nights out for evenings in front of the TV. A change in the weather is a brilliant excuse to revamp your home décor and embrace seasonal trends. This handy guide will share some winter-style hacks to create a cosy, chic home.

Soft furnishings

Adding soft furnishings to your living spaces is one of the simplest and most affordable ways to make your home feel snug and inviting when it’s cold and miserable outside. Cushions, rugs, throws, and blankets can add serious style points to any design and they serve a practical purpose too. If it’s chilly outside, you can stay warm with an extra blanket on your bed or a fleece throw on the couch. Mix and match textures and opt for heavier fabrics, such as faux fur, wool, and velvet. You can use soft furnishings to channel a theme or inject different colours or prints. Choose between a formal style or a laid-back, Scandinavian hygge vibe depending on the room design and function.

If you’re looking to stock up on cushions, blankets, and throws for winter, get inspiration and ideas from interior magazines and social media as well as places you’ve visited. It’s always worth using search engines to shop around for the best deals. If you see items with a designer price tag in a magazine, for example, you can usually find similar products for less online.

Shutters, blinds and curtains

It’s impossible to escape news headlines about the cost of living and unpredictable weather forecasts at the moment. Many of us are looking to lower our energy bills, but it’s important to be warm and comfortable at home. Improving insulation is a brilliant way to boost heat retention and make your home more energy efficient. If you have large windows in your living room, or your kitchen has patio doors overlooking the garden, for example, consider upgrading or updating your blinds or curtains or exploring shutters for bay windows. Shutters add instant style and class to a room and they’re also extremely beneficial for keeping spaces cool in summer and toasty in winter. Heavy, lined curtains are also a great option for keeping hot air in during the colder months. Browse products and styles, compare prices, and think about the design of the room. Shutters can work for both contemporary and traditional homes and they are available in a wide range of colours.

Fireplaces

Making a focal point of your fireplace is a surefire way to create a welcoming, warm living space. If you don’t have an open fire, gas or electric fire, or a wood burner, you might want to think about adding one to your living room. If you do have a fire, angle sofas and chairs towards it and draw attention using accessories such as candles, log baskets, framed photographs, lanterns, and rugs.

Styling your home in winter is all about making it look fabulous while staying warm and cosy. Simple steps like adding soft furnishings, upgrading shutters, blinds from halfpriceblinds.com.au and curtains and making a focal point of your fireplace can make a big difference.
