There are a lot of things in your home you’ve spent big money on, and there’s no getting around that. From kitchen appliances to living room furniture, to even just the wallpaper you used to get the feature wall in the bedroom just right – you’ve spent a fortune! And because of this, you probably like to buy other things in your home as cheap as you can, whether these be clothes, crockery, or bedding and cushions, etc.
However, some household items deserve a little more investment than others. They could be worth a lot one day, and you’ll thank yourself for snapping them up while you had the chance! So, let’s go through a small list of such household investments below.
Beds and Mattresses
OK, you’re not going to be selling a mattress after you’ve used it, seeing as they need to be replaced every 8 years. However, it’s still a good idea to invest in a hefty-priced one, as you spend a lot of time sleeping throughout your life, and a good, quality mattress will really make the difference.
Similarly, you should try to spend a bit more on your bed frame – this could be an item you resell one day. And while we’re not advocating you spend more than £5000 on a bed, a bespoke, wooden feature that cost you £1000+ today could be worth that in a couple years time!
Car Plates
You might not think of your car as something that holds value, but it’s a big part of your household, seeing as it’s your most reliable form of transport. And, it could be making you big bucks one day!
This is mostly because of things like custom Number Plates; the right combination could drive up your car’s value by tens of thousands. But adding custom items, such as new tires and rims, or even wrapping the car, could also secure you a similar amount of money.
Fine Dining Items
Fine dining is something we don’t do a lot of in the modern era. From having to use plastic plates so the kids don’t break them, to only bringing out the gold leaf lined cups and saucers for special occasions, fancy crockery seems to be a dying art. However, fine, vintage dinnerware is a great thing to invest in, as keeping these rare items alive and well could make you a lot of money when you clear out the cupboards.
Household investments – Art
Of course, you don’t have to fork out thousands for a masterpiece! But, if you do have a good feeling about a local artist who’s name seems to be circulating a lot recently, go out and grab a small piece of theirs and hang it on your wall! It could be worth about 30% more in a few months/years time.
Some household investments are worth the spending! Don’t forget to check your attic and other storage areas for some hidden gems like those above that you may already have.
