How To Get Your Children Enjoying The Fresh Outdoors On Holiday

May 27, 2022 | Leave a Comment

Family holidays can be a great experience for everyone to be together and enjoy quality time together. However, in the age of technology, it can be difficult to encourage your children to get out and enjoy the fresh outdoors. We have put together this article, to give you some top tips on how to get your children to enjoy the fresh outdoors while you are all on holiday.

Ask For Suggestions

One tip that could help get your children outside is by asking them for suggestions. It is important to remember that it is their holiday too, so it would be a good idea to ask them for suggestions about where they want to go. Listening to your children is an excellent way to build a bond, so when you are planning the holiday, you can all take it in turns to come up with some ideas of what to do. It could be that there is a great local park or beach nearby, which would make a fun day out as a family.

Get Them A Bike

Another way to get your kids to enjoy the fresh outdoors is by getting them a bike. Having a bike is a great encouragement as it means your children will be more likely to get outdoors and start exercising. If your child is just starting to learn how to ride, then you could check out balance bikes, as these are specially designed to make it easier for kids to learn. You could look up some of the local parks in the area and find some that will be perfect for learning to ride a bike. Try to go for parks that have nice, even paths, as this will make it easier. Learning to ride a bike on holiday will give your child the encouragement and motivation they need to enjoy the fresh outdoors.

Invite Their Friends

While family holidays are fun, you may find that your kids start to get bored of some of the activities. If this is the case, then it could be a good idea to invite some of their friends along for the holiday. Having someone else there who is their own age and who they get along with well, will likely encourage them to get outside. Not only this, but this is a great opportunity for your kid and their friends to get closer and create memories together.

Have A Set Screentime

As mentioned in the introduction, living in a technological age means that children are glued to their phones more than ever before. This can be annoying on family holidays as it means your children are less likely to want to go and play outside. If this is the case for your children, then we would advise setting a screen time every day for your kids, so they have a limit on how long they can spend on their phones. Make sure you have this established beforehand, so your kids are well aware in advance.
