How To Style a Room For Your Bed and Breakfast Business

July 26, 2022 | Leave a Comment

Are you thinking of opening a B&B? Or do you currently own one and are thinking of renovating it? Here are some current trends and décor that you should consider adding to your guest rooms, to ensure your guests are comfortable, enjoy their stay and want to return in the future.

Sliding wardrobes

If you want to optimise your space, sliding wardrobes are the perfect solution – they can be designed floor to ceiling, meaning there is plenty of space to hang up maxi dresses, suits, or shirts. This can help to reduce your daily chores as there are fewer tricky places to clean and guests can see all their belongings more quickly, so they are less likely to leave anything behind!

How To Style a Room – Artwork

Artwork is a great way to personalise a room and enhance the space and colour scheme that you have chosen. Not only this, any imperfections in the room can easily be hidden by paintings or drawings! Consider the scale of the pieces and the areas you wish to decorate. Popular places are above the bed and in the entrance or corridor, as they can be easily noticed and can help create a homely feel. One or two pieces will usually work best to avoid overwhelming the layout. Always make sure that any art you purchase matches a particular theme or colour scheme, so they don’t look out of place.

Neutral colours

Opting to decorate with neutral colours is always the safest bet and will more than likely match the taste of guests, in comparison to over-the-top bright and clashing colours. Many potential customers may be put off if a room has too many colours or patterns as it could begin to look cheap and tacky. Instead, try to add a splash of colour through accessories, such as bed throws and cushions. Colours have different connotations, so do some research into the type of impression you are wanting to give to customers, and choose your colour scheme accordingly.

How To Style a Room – Statement pieces

First impressions go a long way and style a room by adding some statement pieces to the room will likely appeal to guests when they are looking on your website or a comparison site. This could be anything from adding a luxury armchair to a gorgeous oak coffee table. It is important that the room feels like a home away from home to visitors, therefore going the extra mile and investing in some high-quality pieces can have a big impact on the success of your B&B – guests will always remember and appreciate the quality and how comfortable your rooms were.
