Thrift Shop Fashion – Less dosh but still as Posh!

Thrifty Fashion – This Weeks Brilliant Finds

Thrift-Shop-fashion

Less dosh but still as posh!

I had fun this week scouting around my local charity shops; I also visited some new Charity shops whilst in a different area.

If I have to buy clothes from stores, which I still do I might add, I never like them as much as my charity shop finds.

So, what have I found this week?

This week I have found a lovely outfit for the nicer weather, we are lucky to be having. I even managed to find practically a full outfit to wear to attend a daytime event at my Local Lego Store.

The outfit is a simple black dress, I would not wear this as a dress, but over leggings or skinny jeans would be more my style.

I love the oversized artist’s style bow on the front, the shape and quality of the fabric and the two very handy pockets on the front. This dress is in immaculate condition and unlike others, I have seen. I picked this up for £3.99 from my local St Gemma’s Charity shop, a hospice charity that once nursed my great grandma before she died; I like to donate my unwanted clothes there.

The animal print gladiator style sandals are great for summer, with an unusual animal print design, a perfect fit for my odd sized, miss-matched feet!  I paid £2.99 for these

Charity shops can be a good and reasonable way to afford a different outfit. It is good to be giving to a good cause. There seem to be a good many charity / thrift shops nowadays. Well Done in treating yourself to a bargain outfit.

I used to love getting a bargain in the charity shops but over the last couple of years they have become very expensive (at least the ones near us have). It is often cheaper to buy in the sales 🙁

I have always wanted to look around charity shops for bargains but always seem to run out of time. I will have to arrange some ‘me’ time and make a day of it. I love seeing what other people find and hopefully I’ll be sharing my own finds soon 🙂 x

I used to be a bit snobby about charity shops until I got involved with charity work and ended up running one, it was the way I was brought up I think. My Mum was an older Mum born 1924 and she used to say there was a real stigma attached to buying second hand when she was young. Now I’m a real convert, its brilliant recycling too so its very green, they even get money for decent ‘rags’ and they get my books back after I’ve read them plus clothes etc I’ve finished with. I mainly go in to buy books now as I read so much and still prefer a solid book to my kobo but I have had some real bargains, recently I bought 5 pairs of brand new Next trousers in a size 16 for £4 each with all the tickets still on them. I recently have got down from a plus size 28/30 to a 20 so I optimistically thought well 16 ‘s not much further and I don’t see me getting down smaller. If I don’t make it by the winter then I’ll sell them on ebay, I always donate the profit back to the shop though as the bargain fairy might desert me !
