Find out how you can win one of Ridley’s Retro Stockings by simply sharing your Christmas photographs using the hashtag #RidleysRetroXmas. You can also be in with a chance of winning a daily prize too.
As the countdown to Christmas has officially begun and children worldwide are becoming increasingly excited about the annual visit from Santa, Ridley’s have been getting very nostalgic about the wonderful Christmases they’ve enjoyed growing up.
Think space hoppers under the tree, harmonicas in stockings and battling your siblings the whole of Boxing Day on who had the best yo-yo tricks. Oh, can we have a time machine for Christmas?
As part of the Ridley’s Retro Xmas giveaway, they are inviting everyone to share their childhood Christmas Day photos and all those perfectly plastic, colourful toys we received.
So, in the spirit of a good old giveaway, out came those beloved family albums, where I’ve had an enormous amount of fun looking back on Christmases of past.
Here’s me as a young girl celebrating Christmas. This picture shows me looking incredibly excited on Christmas morning with my Mum, big sister Zoe and little sister Katie. It was always a very girlie Christmas in our house.
We always had and still do have the tradition of every Christmas morning standing at the top of the stairs and my mum would say Has anybody been? We would then charge down the stairs and find our huge pile of gifts and then the excitement really started.
My poor dad would spend most of the day assembling Barbie houses, scalextric tracks and bikes. In fact, everything we asked for as young girls seemed to need assembling or batteries.
Visiting Santa in his Grotto at Lewis’s department store was the highlight of my year and for some reason my mum used to make us get dressed up for the occasion. Here I am in my favourite grey velvet ‘Christmas dress’ with my little sister and a little younger visiting Santa’s grotto with my big sister.
Here are Some of my top Retro toys that Santa brought me:
- Care Bears
- My little ponies
- Barbie Camper van
- She-Ra Castle from He- man
- Nintendo Game and Watch – Ball edition ( juggling man)
- Bunty and Judy Annuals
- Cabbage Patch Kid
