Pokemon X and Y Toys by Tomy
Jake was thrilled to receive these Pokemon X and Y Toys from Tomy to review. He is a huge Pokemon fan, loves playing the video games, collecting the plush Toys, Reading the Manga books and playing the Pokemon Trading card game. I even used to run a Pokemon Official Trading card Legue, so have been branwashed with Pokemon for years! Now, thanks to Tomy he got to try out and give his views on the Pokemon X and Y range of Toys.

Jakes thoughts on the Electronic Battle Arena
Jake was incredibly impressed with the Pokemon Electronic Battle Arena, quite frankly so was I! Unlike most other Toys this Pokemon Arena is very sturdy, there is nothing worse than trying to play with a toy when parts fall off constantly and require setting up again and again. Apart from a couple of cardboard stand up decorations there was no assembly required at all.
One of the things that is so great about the Arena is you can play against a friend or you can play against the computer, so this is like two Playsets in one. The Arena comes with 3 Pokemon X and Y figures so you are ready to start battling instantly.Once you have chosen your Pokemon , onto the arena, they go, there is no chance of small hands knocking off the figures as they are held in place very securely. On the box it says this Arena has dynamic sounds and it really does, The lights and sounds are amazing and Wow’d us both, I think I got a bit too excited (such a big kid)
“I had so much fun playing against my mum with the Pokemon Electronic Battle Arena, of course I beat her every time. I had fun too playing against the computer which was a much harder battle than against my Mum. I am looking forward to collecting more Pokemon so I can battle using more Pokemon types with their different battle styles” – Jake
Catch ‘n’ Return Poke ball Umbreon + great ball
Catch Pokémon like a Pokémon Trainer with the Catch ‘n’ Return Poké Ball! Put a Pokémon figure on the stand, pull back the Poké Ball, aim, and release! Make a successful catch and the Poké Ball will come right back to you. Once you’ve caught your Pokémon, the Poké Ball pops open with the push of a button so you can send your new Pokémon into battle.
“I loved the Catch ‘N’ Return Pokeball, It was pretty simple to use too. You line the Pokeball up with the Pokemon who sits on the pedestal, pull back the Pokeball and release. Hopefully you will have lined it up correctly and snap the Pokeball catches the Pokemon. I am looking forward to getting more of these from the X and Y collection so I can challenge my friends to see just who is the Pokemon Master” – Jake
Legendary Figure & Pikachu Yveltal + Pikachu
These powerful Pokémon are on the scene! Catch these new Legendary Pokémon, as featured in the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games, making their debut as large 4” figures. Each pack contains one 4” articulated figure, one detailed 2” Pikachu
Pokemon X and Y Charizard, Sylveon, Espeon & Pancham
4 Figure Gift Pack
All figures are highly detailed and feature characters from the X and Y series
“These Pokemon X and Y figure packs are great to collect, I loved the fact they added to my collection straight away and I could play with them in the Battle Arena. I can ask for more of the sets for Birthdays and Easter instead of an Easter Egg. I could even offer to wash my dad’s car to get some pocket money!” – Jake

*** Disclaimer, We were sent these Toys to play with for an honest Review. All the thoughts and feelings are that of mine and my son’s***

I am not into gaming but do remember Pokemon which I used to play with my friends son. They have certainly upgraded it since then. It is great when a child loves a game and can use their imagination!
Thanks for your message. This set certainly lets your child use there imagination, a lovely alternative to all the computer Games that are out at the moment. It was lovely to see my son actually playing with a Toy again.Pokemon has been around for ages now and has been a big hit in my house with both my boys.
Oh, these look fun! My boys would have so much fun with these. Thanks for including such great pictures with this post!
Thanks, We had lots of fun laying with these Toys. The lights and sounds on the battle Arena are very impressive!
We have these too, aren’t they just great? They have kept my older 2 occupied for hours on end lol
My brothers grew up on pokemon! Me not so much! But kids around here love them!
I was more of a digimon fan personally but these do look fun. Takes me back to my childhood.
My boys would love these! Pokemon has been round for a while now! My kids seem to go through phases when new toys come out and I sometimes feel reluctant to buy because I think they will turn to something else next month. So glad Pokemon stuck though!
An impressive toy, that kids can use their imagination with too.
Thank you for linking up to #BigKid with this review. I must admit that my kids don’t know much about Pokemon but I imagine for kids that do this is great.
Pokemon is certainly massive for a lot of children, it’s amazing to have there mind engaged and really helps with there concentration. I am sure your boys have some really interesting things they love to do to. Rachel x
Hi, was just wondering are the Tomy figures the only ones compatiable with the battle arena? Ive noticed that some figure sets contain tags. Are there all different or is it a case of only using the 3 tags supplied with any figure?
Just going back to what I said, do you need the attack tags to play the battle arena game or are they purely for show? The reason I ask is the Tomy figures are very expensive and you have a limited choice available with the attack tags. Are you able to get figures from another source (say eBay) and still play the battle arena? Do the 3 tags supplied actually do anything? Do they make attacking stronger or do other pokemon have stronger attacks than others? I’ve purchased the pokemon arena for my son and just wanted to make sure I know what figures to get for it. I’ve also purchased the catch n return game with the two pokeballs etc which is also made by Tomy and noticed this has no tags with the figures included.
Any help / advice would be appreciated
John – No you are correct, the tags are merely for show and are not required, so don’t worry. Also, you are able to use figures from the likes of eBay as or any source as long as they are official (They don’t just have to be TOMY). All the the tags are for is the additional Pokedex item that comes with the trainer battle set. In relation to the Pokeballs, I do not why they do not come with tags, however I believe it’s because it’s for a game that is only compatible with itself (Although this is a guess). Hopefully this answers your questions.. Rachel X
