I am always travelling by train, especially to London, yet rarely get to see the sights of the city. I realised even though I travel to London my children had not taken a trip there since they were little and hardly remember seeing the great sights from our capital City.
When Virgin asked if we’d like to take part in their fabulous #ParentingLikeABoss campaign and take a trip as a family on Virgin Trains to London we were all very excited!
Virgin are offering a fabulous family offer for travel so you can take a trip for a bargain fixed price ticket for a family of any size (minimum of 1 adult and 1 child, up to a maximum of 2 adults and 4 children) which is perfect for my family and me.
Families can travel anywhere on the network along the West Coast Mainline as long as they’re travelling to/from London Euston. It’s flexible too, allowing you to return anytime within a month of the outbound date, so no getting stranded anywhere if you miss your train home, which has happened to my family and me in the past.
It was so lovely to board the train in Manchester with my two boys and just relax and let someone else do the navigating for once. I have been driving for 20 years and love it when I get the chance to travel by train and relax for the journey knowing I will get there in half the time and can sit back enjoy the scenery, read a book and enjoy the onboard refreshments rather than stressing sat in traffic jams.
Travelling with Virgin Trains is in my eyes the only way to travel, with their fantastic onboard shops that sell everything from snacks, drinks, to magazines and even playing cards. My son loved the opportunity to go check out the shop and stock up on refreshments for the journey to London.
Travelling with Virgin Trains gets even better as they offer travellers under six, free Vkids packs – each one is a treasure trove of pencils, stickers, activity books and more. Grab one fast once you’re onboard. Before you travel make sure you download the BEAM app for complimentary, onboard entertainment service. BEAM gives you access to hundreds of hours of the universe’s best film and TV box sets, from classics to cult viewing, plus loads more magazines and games for you to read and play with when you connect to the wi-fi onboard.
As you can see my teenage sons were kept very entertained watching TV box sets, reading and playing games throughout the journey, leaving mum to relax even more and enjoy reading a glossy magazine!
After a relaxing journey, It was time to hit London and see as many attractions as we could in just one day. The boys were also eager to visit some of the landmarks to play Pokemon Go as apparently, you can find rare and interesting Pokemon characters there!
We visited so many of London’s famous landmarks and I just followed the boys and let them take the lead, after all, this day was all about them having fun in the School holidays. I was just so glad I hadn’t had to drive as I would not as felt as fresh as I did before I had to venture around London walking miles and jumping on and off the tube.
We visited so many landmarks including Buckingham palace, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, The Shard, Tower bridge, London Eye to name but a few. We had a lovely day and was definitely happy to board our return train from London to Manchester after a long day and just sit back and relax, this is definitely #ParentingLikeABoss
Why not take a family trip to London like we did with Virgin Trains and enjoy the sights of London with a super flexible Virgin Trains family ticket It makes a family day out in the city much, much cheaper than you think.
