Stuck for ideas on what to book for your next family weekend break? Then have you come to the right place, you’ll find a wide range of suggestions that every member of your family is sure to love.
UK Weekend Break – Stay Overnight At A Theme Park
One option that is bound to delight kids of all ages is booking a weekend break at a UK theme park like Alton Towers where there are four different types of accommodation on offer including the main hotel, the splash pool hotel, the woodland pods, and the CBeebies hotel.
One of the best things about staying in a resort like this is that many of the rooms are themed so the fun doesn’t stop when you leave the park each evening but carries on throughout your stay. There’s even a luxury spa for older family members that would rather not ride the rollercoasters!
Camping With A Hot Tub
Traditionally when we think of family camping breaks images of damp canvas tents, and sausages cremated on the campfire tend to spring to mind. However, it’s worth noting that camping has truly come a long way, and is in modern times both enjoyable and luxurious.
Indeed, you will be pleased to note that there are plenty of wonderful campsites in the UK with hot tubs, which can add an extra little bit of luxury to your stay. Not to mention that such facilities will help keep family members of all ages busy and having fun during your trip. From the kids taking an early morning dip to the adults who can watch the sun go down while sipping a glass of their favourite bubbly in the tub.
UK Weekend Break – A Shepherds Hut
Another great option for a family break is to book a night or two in a shepherd hut. For those unfamiliar with this type of accommodation these huts were historically provided for shepherds to sleep in while tending their flocks. Although the modern ones you will find these days have been upgraded to include running water, and facilities such as showers, toilets and cookers.
The great thing about staying in a shepherd’s hut is that they are very cosy, and also encourage you to spend plenty of time outside, as they are usually sited in picturesque landscapes such as the Lake District. Be sure to look for one that comes with a fire pit, as you can have a very pleasant family evening toasting marshmallows and watching the flickering of the flames as the sun goes down.
Do Feed The Animals At A Safari Park
OK, disclaimer it’s only some of the animals at Port Lympne Wildlife Park in Kent that you are allowed to feed if you choose to stay overnight in their range of beautiful accommodations, and the safari guides have to be there. However, there are plenty of other spectacular experiences on offer such as staying in a tiger lodge where pictures of windows in the bedroom and lounge look out directly onto the tiger enclosure, and you can get up close and personal with its feline inhabitants!
Indeed, there is a wide range of animals at the park which is split into different climates and geographical zones, so expect to see giraffes, coyotes, rhinos, and cheetahs during the safari tour of the park that is included in each stay.
