For those of you who follow my blog regularly, you will know how house proud I am and a huge fan of Industrial Lighting. I’ve put a lot of effort into my downstairs space, having a stressful makeover and making my desk area look as perfect as possible. I have a particularly unique style and love anything industrial looking, adding old and new together, making a very individual look that I adore. I want my house to reflect me and my personality, with tiny little details and second-hand items that tell a story.
Industrial Lighting
One thing that I do love most about a home is the lighting. I feel like lighting can make your room go to a whole different level. I’ve gone from lampshades to chandeliers, playing around and seeing what will look best in my home. Just because it’s night time, doesn’t mean your home can’t look great. So, when I received the Photographic Black Metal Giant Floor Lamp from Habitat, it is understandable why I was amazed.
Industrial lighting is something that is becoming more popular by the day; I’ve visited many restaurants and cafes and instantly fallen in love with their decor. Everything was very industrial but at the same time, cosy. This floor lamp from Habitat fits perfectly in the corner of my room, as before it seemed very bare. The lamp is made from a technique called ‘spinning’ where you start off with a flat sheet of aluminium which is then put onto a spinning machine. The metal was spun at a very high speed and a craftsman used tools to push the flat sheet into the shape which provides those specific, detailed aspects which you can see. It takes over half an hour to make one piece which is an incredible amount of time and care over the item. I love the fact that this collection is handmade, as now I believe that handmade items are harder to find nowadays.
This lamp is a real focal point for my living room. The reflection of the metal almost makes me room seem bigger which is a huge pro. The positivity doesn’t end there, though. The range being called ‘Photographic’ definitely means that it’s also a studio lamp which is perfect. With me having a blog and having little budding photographers in my home, it’s great that I now have a proper studio light I can use to take beautiful pictures. The lamp provides a soft glow and gives off the perfect amount of brightness to make a photo complete. Very ideal, as not only is it a beautiful piece of furniture but it also has a double use.
If you’re looking for inspiration and want to go down the industrial style route, then Habitat offers loads of selection, which I promise you’ll fall in love with, most definitely. Any floor lamp can add sophistication to a room, no matter how big or small. A statement piece is important in my eyes, as it can dramatically change your room in the best way possible. The hard part is getting it right. There are so many different industrial styles to choose from, all having different characteristics but looking fashionable.
Not only has Habitat’s Industrial Lighting given me more confidence in my living room, but it has also provided my central bold statement without any fuss or hard work. I’ve had many lovely comments about how fantastic it looks and my blossoming photographers cannot keep their hands off!
