When it comes to home decor in my home, I love to add little touches to make my home stand out and make a lasting impression on visitors.
By simply adding a few key pieces to your living area, you can create a fun and eclectic style to your home decor. I have introduced this stunning 1960’s design classic 746 telephone from Wild and Wolf in to my living room and it has certainly added a little 60s glamour!
I have always loved the look of eclectic styling in homes. The visual effect of furnishings and housewares from a variety of periods and styles brought together to create a living space has always excited me and inspired me to use in my home decor styling.
At the moment I am loving the classic looks from the 1960’s and early 70’s that brought us teak coffee tables and the iconic ‘Modern Phone’ that was introduced in 1967 by the General Post Office in response to popular demand.
The 746 design is now a British Retro telephone and 60’s style icon. In 1967 is was a welcome redesign to the popular 706 models and who knew that even now we would still be wanting this telephone to add character and charm to our home decor.
This 196’s classic has had a little update to fit into our modern-day lives by replacing the dial (we all remember them) for easy to use push buttons for modern-day convenience.
I remember as a child using the original design, If you dialled one wrong number on the dial then you had to start all over again, Can you imagine our kids doing that now!
With a variety of colours to choose from, there is sure to be one to add a retro vibe into your home. I chose the Wild and Wolf 746 Phone in Swedish Green, a superb blend of retro cool and subtle colour that will make a statement but isn’t brash.
The body and receiver of this unique phone are made from a light green injection moulded plastic and paired with grey buttons and a grey cable for a sleek, understated but distinctive look.
Wild and Wolf 746 Phone – Swedish Green Specifications
- Material: Injection moulded plastic
- Authentic 1960’s styling
- Push button dialling
- Redial button
- Plugs into standard phone socket
The look of the telephone fitted in to my home decor style perfectly and I was so pleased with the Swedish Green colour I choose as It complimented my grey walls perfectly, adding a little fun to the neutral base colour pallet of my living room.
The phone really injects some fun into your home, I felt as if I had gone back in time and released my inner child telephoning friends and family to test out my new retro phone. It took me back to my childhood where you had very little privacy when you made a call. I recall taking the telephone as far as the cord would let me, sometimes making it as far as behind the living room door just for a little privacy.
My only small bugbear is you can not move around your home freely whilst chatting on the phone like you can with modern-day telephones.
