The Baby Shower
I decided to take a leaf out of our american friends book and organised a Baby Shower for my Sister. If it is good enough for the Americans then it is good enough for us Brits!
When I told my sister I would organise a shower for her, I didn’t quite realise how much planning would be involved, I think in future I shall remove ‘party planner’ off my CV.
The baby shower refreshments
I did want to hold the baby shower through the day with a Vintage afternoon traditional tea theme, although with most of the guests working through the day it wasn’t really a possibility. I still went with a vintage tea theme, but instead of tea we had bucks fizz.
There were so many cakes to choose from which is perfect as I have such a sweet tooth. We had special baby shower cupcakes which were hand-made and a very impressive baby shower themed cake, it was the cutest cake I have ever seen and It tasted just as good as it looked, in fact my son said it was the nicest cake he had ever tasted.

Visit:https://www.facebook.com/janicescupcakesleeds to view all the yummy cupcakes and cakes you can order.
We decorated the table with a crisp white table-cloth, tea lights and as many cake stands as we could get our hands on.We spruced up the area with bunting from an amazing baby shower kit from Mamas & Papas.
My mum placed a beautiful picture of my sister Katie as a toddler above the table, such a simple yet special touch.
When all the guests arrived, we made my sister wear a sash with the words ‘Katie’s baby shower’ on.We had a cheeky glass of wine, a catch up and then it was time to sample the delicious food
After we had all thoroughly stuffed ourselves with cream buns & cupcakes, we all went in to the living room to play some pretty tame baby shower games that I had put together very last-minute.
Time to Play
The games actually went pretty well as I am definitely no games master!, we played ‘What’s in your bag?’ which is a very easy game of opening up your bags in pairs and ticking off everything you find inside, the more bizarre the item the higher the points given. You could gain 20 points if you had a ‘pet rock’ or a pair of knickers inside your bag, luckily for my sister she did have, the knickers that is.
As I printed the games off a little last-minute I forgot to change the American wordings like ‘dime’.
We also played ‘Stand up, sit down’ where I would have been out on every question, I was related to the mum to be, had red nail varnish on, wore jeans and so on.
I had small presents for all the winners and we really had fun, I laughed so hard at some of the reactions from people that my stomach muscles ached!
The baby gifts
Next was the part I had been waiting for…the present giving. We sat Katie in a special chair in my mums room that I call the throne and placed all the wrapped gifts out all around her.
It was a little bit like christmas whilst she was opening the gifts, I knew what was inside each one as I had wrapped them all earlier that day, it was still lovely to watch everyone else’s reactions especially Katie’s.
Here are the glorious baby and Mum to be gifts Katie received

Many Thanks to Asda who provided us with all these wonderful baby essentials, Toys, clothes and mum to be products from the nSpa range.

All products are designed especially to care for any expecting mother at every stage of pregnancy, as well as new mums. The collection includes products to keep skin silky soft and in great condition throughout and beyond pregnancy, but also have ingredients to soothe and help relaxation.
“I use products in the nspa range and have not found anything better to pamper my body with. We all had a try of the cooling leg gel and pregnant or not this will feel great after a long day on our feet”.

Everyone loved the little ears on this hat, it is lined too so extra soft and snuggly on baby Newborn’s heads.
Thank you to Daisy Baby for sending this much-needed essential nursing cushion, what every new mum needs.I was also sent this Highchair Splash mat for when the time arises

A soft and comfortable support pillow designed to make it more comfortable when breast-feeding or bottle feeding your baby.
Soft 100% cotton waffle cover which can be removed and machine washed.
This stunning shawl, which can be personalised for free is from gettingpersonal.co.uk.

we were lucky enough to be sent one for our babyshower, we do not know the sex of the baby so unfortunately we couldn’t have ours personalised. The quality of the shawl is very high and it is so soft and delicately detailed, a great shawl to carry your new arrival home in
This Super soft unisex blanket and baby grow are by Dot & Co Organic Babywear with a difference, the difference is I have never felt any baby wear just quite so soft. Organic cotton is a softer, natural material that is more comfortable against baby’s’ skin. Quality is a given, and without the use of pesticides.

Dot&Co garments are practical, functional and fun. For example, the reversible trousers can be worn twice before washing. In this day in age where we are all tightening our belts, this provides a cost-effective solution whilst maintaining the brand’s exciting style. In addition, the integral mitts featured on each baby grow prevent little ones from accidentally scratching their faces, whilst keeping their hands nice and warm.
Mamas & Papas were not only kind enough to send us the Baby Shower kit , but also these adorable little baby grows.
