Our thoughts on the wearable Gameband + Minecraft

October 1, 2015 | 7 Comments

I don’t know many people who have not heard of “Minecraft” in some capacity. As a mum of two teen boys, I have been hearing about Minecraft ever since they started playing the game whilst in Alpha mode, before the game was the massive hit it is today!

Did you know you can now purchase a wearable device which enables you to actually save your personal Minecraft world on your wrist, making it portable and easy to play your favorite game anywhere, without complications. Here I will be reviewing the new wearable Gameband + Minecraft, showing you just how easy it is to take Minecraft everywhere with you!

Gameband + Minecraft

What is Gameband + Minecraft?

The Gameband + Minecraft  is the first-ever Minecraft wearable item/gaming gear . Gameband + Minecraft lets you take your Worlds with you and play Minecraft anywhere, anytime — on any computer. Featuring ultra-fast, long-lasting hardware, Gameband + Minecraft saves your Worlds and also backs them up onto their secure, cloud-based servers.

Using the Gameband + Minecraft is really easy. You can plug it into any of your computer’s USB ports, and start playing right away! No installations or waiting time; just play when and where you want, on any Windows, Mac or Linux operating system.

The first time you plug-in your Gameband, you will be asked to go through a brief, one time registration process. It is quick and easy just submitting some basic user information to allocate you a license.

At the start and end of your gaming session the Gameband application will backup any changes to your game data and upload it to their servers.

If you lose your Gameband + Minecraft, you can purchase a replacement unit at a special price, with all of your content preloaded so that you can start playing right where you left off!

Gameband by Now Computing have teamed up with Mojang and Minecraft Map making experts, Hypixel, Sethbling and Dragnoz to create the first ever Gameband with a multitude of customizable displays and Pre-loaded with stunning maps. The product comes in a lovely themed box to the variation you purchased, mine being Redstone, you can also purchase a Diamond version of the Gameband + Minecraft.

Alone, the Gameband is a 7.34 gb Memory Stick containing the Gameband hub program with links to Options, PixelFurnace and the Minecraft Launcher. PixelFurnace is an app which allows you to customize the digital display on the Gameband with messages, images and animations that you create and able to share on the PixelFurnace site.

Minecraft and Me

Minecraft is a game that needs no explanation, though for the two of you who have been living under a rock, it is a Sandbox game originally owned by Mojang though was bought by Microsoft. I originally purchased Minecraft during the October 30th 2010 update and my boys have been avid lovers ever since! In 2012, my family and I were lucky enough to attend Minecon in Paris, which is a convention all about Minecraft. We even managed to meet the original creator of Minecraft Notch and the current, Jeb! We were staying in the same hotel and managed to bump into him in the lobby!

But enough about my past experiences, let’s get to my thoughts on the Gameband Redstone.

When you open the packaging , you will be greeted with a slick black band with the ore of choice on the uppermost appendage and coloured buttons on each other and pulling at the ore will reveal the USB that is stored inside the band. Wearing the Game band is simple and I must admit it looks pretty stylish and high-tech, My son could not wait to get out and about wearing his new gadget round his wrist. This would be ideal for trips away, nights at grandma’s and on journeys, as it gives you the reassurance and flexibility that you can play Minecraft whilst not at your Computer and nothing will be lost as you can back up all your content. It also comes pre-loaded with Dragnoz The Dash of Doom 1.7 and TRON Fire 1.7 Minecraft maps.

I can assure you this would make a great gift for any Minecraft fan and perfect for Christmas. I predict quite a few letters to Santa will have a Gameband + Minecraft Redstone edition on them!

Priced at £64.99, I feel this is a fair price especially as it very durable and there is nothing else like it on the market at the moment.

Take a look at some more images over on the Gameband Instagram page and give them a follow on Twitter for the latest news and releases!
