Super Smash Bros – Smashes onto 3DS!

November 7, 2014 | Leave a Comment

Super Smash Bros is a Nintendo game that spans all of their home consoles since the N64 release, but now you can play it on the go! This game has come out on the 3DS earlier than the Wii U version which is released on the 21st November for North America, the 5th December for Europe and 6th for Australia!

The newest entry into the series has 49 characters in total, 12 of them being unlockable. The characters in this game cross all time from 1980-2013 and range from newer characters like Greninja from Pokémon and Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening to classics like Pac-Man and The Duck Hunt Dog! The sheer amount of characters is astounding and because of the long history of characters, anyone can jump in and find a recognizable character. Personally, my favourite characters are Little Mac because of how powerful he is and easy to learn, Captain Falcon because of how AWESOME he is and Ness as he’s the closest to my brawl main, Lucas.

New Super Smash Bros Game for the 3ds

This iteration of Smash Bros has to be the most customizable yet including 8 alternate colours OR skins (e.g: Olimar-Louis, Link-Fierce Deity Link) and have 3 different Special moves for each special attack (Eg: B whilst holding Up is one). There is also the Mii Fighter, the sheer height of customization with a myriad of costumes, hats and can look like Morgan Freeman (Or yourself)

Other than the basic SMASH mode there’s a multitude of different modes of play such as Stadium events, All Star, Classic and the all new Smash Run! Stadium events are small challenges to… well challenge you! These can be events such as Target Blast where you chuck a bomb in a area and break as many targets as possible, Home Run Contest where you get 10 seconds to damage a sandbag item and launch it as far as you possibly can (and that’s far!) and the sub section Multi Man Smash which contains 10 man smash where you’ve got to defeat 10 easy to KO enemies in as low a time as you can, 100 man smash which is the same but with 100 enemies! You’ve then got 3-minute smash were you’ve got 3 minutes to KO as many as possible, Rival Smash where you and a clone of your character duke it out to defeat the most, Endless Smash which is just how it sounds and finally Cruel Smash where you fight normal enemies like in the basic smash mode for as long as possible!

Next up is Classic mode where you go down path of challenges until you get to the final boss which is either Master Hand or Master Hand AND Crazy Hand who on a high enough difficulty become Master Core after a beating who is the true final boss and will give you a run for your money. Before each of these battles you spin a jackpot machine to see your winning reward for each match; Spanner means customizable item, Trophy means Trophy (of course!) and Gold means more money to increase Intensity. Speaking of which, before you start the run you bet money to increase intensity the higher it is the higher the risk, but also the higher the reward! On Intensity 6.0 + you will fight master core on the master hand + crazy hand boss and will have less forms the closer to 6 it is as every time you lose you have a penalty of 5 intensity and a sum of jackpot rewards taken off your total bill at the end, which is the only way to get custom special moves and costumes/hats for the Mii’s so try avoid it as there targeted first.

Continuing there’s the All Star mode which pits you against waves of enemies in order of their original release date so if they came out in 2013 they’d be in that bracket with 3 healing items for the entire task and there’s a surprise waiting once you’ve unlocked all characters…

Next up is smash run where you and three other characters run around a stage for five minutes collecting power ups from the enemies such as Goombas and Chandalures, which help you obtain more for the final battle which could be a climbing race, a running race or a Stock Battle! You can also equip yourself before the match with stat boosts and special items for the upcoming trial!

Finally there’s online mode where you fight for fun or for glory! In For Fun you have items enabled and any stage and you have four player madness where in For Glory its serious business with all stages having a Final Destination layout (flat), no items and pure action! This can be 1v1, 1v1v1v1 or 2v2.

Special Edition Super Smash Bros 3DS

Furthermore to compliment the 3DS Super Smash Bros game, Nintendo have released a Special Edition Super Smash Bros 3DS, which is so amazing and I would really love to get this to play  my  Super Smash Bros game on!

I love this game! Its amazing. However there is some flaws in the game such as the lag you can get in online 4 player battles and no 1v1 in For Fun mode (the less competitive online option).

That’s a basic overview of the new smash bros, however! There’s so much more to do and i would recommend this masterpiece of a game to anyone!
