I wasn’t a fan of dummies, but when teething came along an easily chewable something was good. I especially tried to make sure that it was flavoured, either by me or a flavoured ring etc. Especially flavoured when going out, because it would reduce the moans and crying to some extent

Chewable toys were put in the freezer. Without giving bub frost bite or burn they worked a treat.

Lots and lots of dribble bibs and also stock up on nappy rash cream (we always found metanium to be the best) when teething as it often causes baby to have a sore bottom.

I never realised that about the nappy rash, I’ll make sure I’m stocked up on Boots nappy rash spray (best thing I’ve found by far).

As a breastfeeding mum I’ve never been big on dummies but teething necklaces are perfect, baby can chew on them and by keeping them round your neck you’re much less likely to forget to pick it up when as a busy mum you’re rushing out of the door trying to remember everything you need.

As a fan of natural parenting/remedies I’d be interested to find out more about the effectiveness of amber as a teething remedy. Particularly as my daughter’s just hit three months and teething isn’t far away.

The best thing ever is Anbesol teething liquid. It’s fantastic as it doesn’t stay on your finger like gels. It’s also extemely quick to apppy. It’s a liquid anaesthetic. You can get it in most chemists.I’ve used it for all my children.
