Family Movies: Annie The Movie Dance Workshop

April 27, 2015 | 6 Comments

During the School holidays I was invited to the famous Pineapple studios for a very exciting and extremely different way to spend a day. Along with other mummy bloggers and their children we were going to attempt to recreate a dance from Annie the movie, one of the best family movies of 2015.

Family Movie Annie Dance Workshop 'It's a hard knock life'

My son who is 13 decided not to dance but was on hand taking pictures and taking over my Twitter feed for the afternoon.

I also took along my niece and nephew, who just love dancing so I knew this would be right up there street.

With a large group of mixed aged, very excited children and not to mention the very dance shy Mums, our dance instructor Richard Marcel certainly had his work cut out whipping us into shape!

KIDS 3

Our instructor Richard Marcel was extremely experienced in teaching novices to dance. After all he is a  top TV, Film and Celebrity choreographer who has work with stars from family movies before. Working with the likes of Madonna, Kylie Minogue, George Michael, Diana Ross and Tom Jones. He even worked on my favourite TV show Strictly come Dancing, I was very star struck!

Learning the Dance to “It’s a Hard Knock Life”.

Richard, along with his team of dancers were going to spend the afternoon teaching us a routine to the song ‘It’s A Hard Knock Life’, The hit song from the family movie Annie.

The children were all put into age groups, each group learning a little part of the dance, ready for the big finale at the end!

The children had so much fun learning the dance routine and were much better than the Mums at remembering where they should be and what move came next!

After we had worked up an appetite, a lovely yummy yet healthy buffet was laid out ready for us to tuck into.

After an exhausting yet exhilarating afternoon, we had produced a dance video for the hit movie Annie.

Here is the finished video, I am sure you will agree all the kids including my Niece and Nephew Lydia and Riley did a fantastic job. Little stars in the making!

Wasn’t it a lovely afternoon? Middlie wasn’t feeling 100% but still loved it …and eldest is still going on about it!

Helen it was a wonderful day, tiring but still brilliant. I love “it’s a hard knock life” song but the kids keep singing it quite often and it’s losing its appeal ha!! I must say though mine enjoyed it too…
