It’s almost Christmas and those of you with gamer kids will know how hard it is for nontech-savvy parents to find a gift they will love. Hopefully our Gamers Christmas Gift Guide 2022 will help you out.
As they grow older the gifts get smaller and a little more pricey, however, for the gaming-loving kids big and small you can still put a smile on their faces. I have two teenagers and a budding gamer girl (nearly 5 years old) who have advised me on what should be under the Christmas tree this year.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate (PC)
Most of the story development takes place aboard the spaceship. Warhammer 40 000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters is a challenging game, so genre fans will appreciate what’s on offer. Key story missions can be especially difficult but extremely rewarding when completed. Expect fast past tactical combat and command your own, personalised squad of grey knights. If you are a fan you will not be disappointed.
F1 Manager 22 (PC, Xbox and Playstation)
In F1 Manager 22 you get to be the boss of your chosen constructor and pick from a roster of 2022 drivers and staff. Get your hands on 2022’s striking new car design and race closer to your opponents than ever before. Assign new parts for your cars to prepare for the race ahead. Your goal is to hit your season targets and your long-term goals to secure your team’s success for years to come and impress the board.
As a manager, you will also need to keep the team’s finances in check, requiring you to make decisions about how the money will be distributed between car development, staff, and overall operations. You will be able to see the starting balance, and how much money you will spend on building your facilities, keeping them maintained, and upgrading them when needed. You get to experience firsthand what it’s like behind the races themselves and with amazing-looking racing simulations, this game is a winner for me!
MY LITTLE PONY: A MARETIME BAY ADVENTURE (PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC)
When I found out that My Little Pony would be releasing a new game for the NintendoSwitch (and other consoles) I quite simply couldn’t resist and just had to see for myself how magical this new adventure would be and reminisce of my childhood playing with My Little Pony Toys and sharing my love of these characters with my little girl.
The ultimate goal is to make sure that Maretime Bay Day is a great success and a wonderful celebration and to stop any pony that is set out to ruin it; however, throughout the game, you are also given the opportunity to use your magic to put on fashion shows, find the cutest animals, fly with the Pegasi and much more! You are also able to customise your pony by unlocking new skills and collecting new achievements. I believe that each feature is a great addition to the overall gameplay for the player and the magic of the adventure that the game wishes to convey.
Undoubtedly, this game is targeted toward a younger audience so was perfect for my little girl with my assistance of course who is just turning five years old and, as such, it truly does cater to that!

RYAN’S RESCUE SQUAD (PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC)
My daughter and I were so excited that we snuggled down to play the game almost immediately! From the very beginning of the game, the experience is thrilling and captivating.
The game displays a comic clip of Ryan and his friends to show the story of how the Evil Dark Titan has taken some of Ryan’s friends: it is up to Ryan (and you as the player) to save the day! This is a great start as I found it introduced the story well and set the tone for how the rest of the game may play out. I think that this feature is also particularly great for children as, instead of just pressing buttons and “playing” the game, they are given a storyline to follow and a clear mission throughout: save the day!
Ryan’s Rescue Squad consists of 4 main worlds to battle, with various levels within each world to add an extra challenge. Only the first world is unlocked, to begin with, it is then up to you to pass through the world successfully and open the door to the next world. Each world is completely unique and based on different themes so that they all remain engaging and just as thrilling throughout. The levels themselves are rather easy to understand which
again, makes it perfect for younger players. In the event that the level is confusing for the player, you are aided with a few prompts on what to do, especially when facing a new challenge or obstacle. For example, arrows and button guides may appear on the screen to show you how to jump and throw slime, etc. It even gives hints as to how to collect Ryan’s Surprise Eggs throughout the game!

PAW Patrol: Grand Prix (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and PC)
The PAW Patrol is looking to win the Pup Cup, racing around different familiar locations racing against each other. There are two different gameplay modes within PAW Patrol: Grand Prix; an adventure mode that has little bits of a story which enticed my daughter to the game as a Paw Patrol fan, taking you from track to track, racing against bots who play as all the pups. There is also a multiplayer mode, allowing two to four players to play as their favorite pups, racing against each other and bots to find the winner! In the adventure mode, you can unlock different hats for your pups too, this was my favourite part!
The graphics in Paw Patrol: Grand Prix are really good. The characters are a perfect creation of the characters from the show meaning kids will instantly recognise each character and have fun choosing who they want to play as.
PJ Masks: Heroes of the Night (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X)
As a huge PJ Masks fan, my daughter was in her element playing PJ Masks Heros of the Night on her PS5. Players can play as Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko and take on their big bad foes Romeo, Luna Girl, and Night Ninja while exploring favourite locations from the show.
Explore eight PJ Masks locations, from the city roofs and Mystery Mountain all the way to the Moon! With help from PJ Robot, you’ll discover a world of friendship, teamwork, and amazing hidden collectibles.
Using each of their abilities allows your progression through the levels much easier with certain puzzle-like challenges, There is plenty of voice acting to support the game, which is perfect for my nearly 5-year-old who is just learning to read so she can listen to the instructions clearly which helps me as a parent! My eight-year-old nephew also found this game fun and perhaps a little easy but still enjoyable.
DC Super Pets (Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)
The game is based on the popular film – DC League of Super-Pets and the player gets to choose which superhero character they want to be. DC League of Super Pets – The Adventures Of Krypto And Ace game is based in Metropolis with 3 regions shown on a map and the Super Pet must fly through different neighborhoods shooting down bots to earn extra points and boost their own health stats.
There is an opportunity to collect bonus items and power-ups that will help with other activities outside of the region. Upon completion of each region, awards are earned and their status goes from being a dog in training to being an excellent dog.
Our favourite part was Pampering and rehoming the animals you get to save at the Pet Adoption Centre and get super rewards.
LOL Surprise! B.B.s BORN TO TRAVEL ( DC Super Pets (Switch, PlayStation 4,Playstation 5, Xbox One,)
The newest L.O.L dolls video game LOL Surprise! B.B.s BORN TO TRAVEL is all about travel, glitter and fashion.
