Getting the man in your life, the perfect present can be tricky. I am always trying to find a gift for my husband and sons that stands out from the normal, predictable gifts such as socks and aftershave. I received a watch of my choice to give my honest thoughts on. It was so hard choosing which watch to select and what member of my family it would be best for. I chose a style for my son who is nearly 19 years old and is very style conscious. This was to be his first stylish watch, In my opinion there is nothing more attractive than a man sporting a stylish watch on his wrist.
Hand Crafted Wood Timepieces that tell a story
Out of all watches on offer on the Jord website, I choose the Dover Ebony + Rosewood watch at $295 (£189).
I was intrigued by this brand as the watches are made from 100% Wood and this is the first time I had come across such a unique brand of watches and could not wait to see if they lived up to my expectations.
The Rosewood and Ebony Wood combination makes for the most visually attractive watch, it arrived packaged beautifully in a Wood slide top box with the watch sat securely and ready to wear on a check pillow.
The quality of the watch when you get to feel it in real life is far superior to what I expected and looks like it should cost at least 3 times the price. I used to work as a jeweler so I am very familiar with high-end brand watches and I can honestly say that the Dover Ebony + Rosewood design would not look out-of-place with some of the more lavish designer watches available today. I have genuinely fallen in love with the Jord brand, this is such a unique Idea.
The Dover watch is made from Brazilian Rosewood and Ebony sourced from East Africa. The ebony has a high saturation of colour and a natural glossy sheen to the wood, which contrasts perfectly alongside the dark chocolate-brown colour of the Rosewood.
I was so surprised to see that the glass used is actually sapphire glass, which is known in the luxury watch world as the definitive material for transparency and durability. It is second only to the diamond as the hardest and most scratch-resistant material on earth, perfect for the men in my house!
This watch impressed me on so many levels as not only is it aesthetically pleasing, the self-winding automatic watch requires no batteries and has a very impressive mechanical Jewel bearing structure with 21 jewels.
The natural Ebony and Rosewood is hand finished and comes pre-treated. The Dover is splash proof but should not be submerged in water
