Over 2 Years ago I started out blogging; it is somewhat strange because it is something I thought I would never do honestly. You have to really add up the pros and cons in the very beginning. Some of the questions I asked myself where do I have the time? Am I good enough to blog? Can I really compete with other blogs that really are amazing?
Who would read something I wrote?
This for me was one of the biggest questions I asked myself, and to be honest I still do not really know because I have so many different types of followers.
How do I blog?
I love everything I blog about and when you read posts that are scattered all over the internet; everything seems to point to having a niche like lifestyle, parenting, craft, beauty, fashion and so much more seriously.
I have chosen to blog about lifestyle & Parenting primarily, but I also love to blog about beauty, fashion, food, gaming, movies and anything that fits into what my family enjoy.
So have I chosen the right topics?
I ask myself this question all of the time, especially when there are so many people blogging in the same niche, who are not short of fantastic. They can write, take photographs and pretty much keep a well-designed blog, which invites the readers in.
Have I achieved what I want to achieve?
No Way! Not even in the slightest yet, but if you see some of the more established blogs you know that they have worked for years putting hard work into each post they write. This is why blogging is quite difficult, because there are occasions when you actually think to yourself “sod it, I am giving up”.
If you are thinking about giving up because you think you are inferior to others who write great blog posts, please do not. The internet is massive and every post you write may well push you to your end goal.
Ask yourself one thing,What are you goals?
Do you want to make money? Do you want to entertain? Alternatively, do you simply have something you would like to share and feel others may benefit from your experience?
Whatever motivates you just stay focused and carry on, you may well be the blogger who is invited to stand at large events telling others about your success one day.
For Google or Not for Google, that is the question.
Do not set targets that are too high and make sure you be yourself when you write a post. I don’t really care at this stage if Google picks up on each blog post, because if I did I would have stopped blogging a while ago. I am sure there are some mean SEO tactics out there, but I do not really know lots about SEO and unless an expert passes that knowledge on to me for free I never will.
I still do well from the search engines, but hopefully I will do better as my umeandthekids.com matures over the years.
Any way for now, I just try to write my content from the heart, who cares if I make the odd spelling mistake and grammatical error. I continue to read and I always will to attempt to improve these errors with each blog post I write, but It does not concern me too much at the moment.
If you good you are good
Some people write lovely articles and have amazing blogs, but they get very little views. Do not think that if search engines and people are not reading your posts that the quality is no good, and no one will benefit from your posts. They will I promise, I don’t always have endless amounts of comments on each post and some days I find we have fewer views than others, but after around a year you will start to get notice a little more and each year will improve you domain and page authority.
Blogging Is Easy
No, it is not, its hard work and on some occasions you find yourself talking to other bloggers who are still online in the middle of the night writing their posts or on social media. Do not think writing an article is easy for others and hard for yourself, you just have to find the time somewhere.
What you produce will be read even if you do not get many comments, people just love to read what is happening in other people’s lives, I know I do.
Stick with it please
The blogging community itself is fantastic and I have made so many friends. There are people like me who love to communicate and offer any advice that may well help others. So If you ever do think about giving up remember the following.
“Blogging is fun, rewarding and you will often have low points, but if you stick with it great things will come”
or my favourite!
“Pick yourself up soldier, dust off and carry on”
Have I improved?
Yes I have! Images are better, sizing is better and the post quality is going up. I knew nothing about blogging but I know one thing I would be lost without it.
Think before you close your blog down
If anyone does ever think about closing their blog down, take a little break and often you will come back with improved ideas. Good luck everyone and I hope this post makes someone put back on their blogging wings and keep fighting the Google monster.

If not do not worry but thank you for taking the time to read this post.
Here are some other posts that I have recently wrote, not perfect, but they are mine and I love them.

I wish I had your perserverence!
Don’t worry I am sure you have the same level of perseverance, you just have to find that. Maybe cool off for a week or so and put your head up and start blogging again. You will succeed in the end. Rachel X
An inspiring post. I have been blogging for about four months and really enjoy writing it. But it can be downheartening when the stats are low. I’d love to reach the point where people I don’t know regularly read my blog, and companies ask me to review things. Not giving up yet!
Fab post, very glad I read it 🙂 I had a real wobble a few weeks ago and had to really remind myself why I am doing this. Sometimes it does feel pointless and I have considered stopping… But I know I would really miss it. Plus it would feel like giving up, which I don’t like to do. So for now I am writing what I want to write and not worrying about all the stats and other rubbish 🙂 very inspiring post, thank you for writing xx #pocolo
You are my sign haha! I started the blog many many many years ago. I am now blogging for more than 10 years but just started doing Linkys this March and taking everything seriously too. You are right when you said its hard. I dont know how I can go out to have something to post and have the time to compose the blog, comment and do some pr of my own. Its like I need an assistant! So after being ever so active last march and april… the excitement died down May and June and this July I am already struggling thinking am I going to go on? Give me a sign I said to myself. You are that sign to continue. Thanks for this post. #PoCoLo
Since I have retired I have discovered a number of blogs. I had no idea there were so many out there. I could not make the commitment to keep one going myself but it does seem to be a fun thing to do.
Some wise lessons here, I am often reminding myself to focus on why I’m blogging, focus on that alone and put the stats and drama to one side. Fab post #PoCoLo
Very inspiring post. I’m just starting out with my blog. Love doing it. Started to get involved in the blogging community on Twitter etc. and it’s great!
Yes, love this. Every month I think I’ve had enough but then I also enjoy blogging too and it challenges me. I get put off when I think mine is a load of rubbish compared with most blogs I read and sometimes it’s a never ending list of things to do. Every blog post takes me hours but then I cannot give up as it’s probably the only thing I have actually ever stuck with in my life!
Great post, i love reading your blog 🙂
wow you must manage your time so well you inspire me!
