My New Years Resolutions for an improved me!

December 30, 2014 | 7 Comments

If you have failed in the past at your new years resolutions do not worry because I have too. Brush yourself off and begin again maybe you could join me in 2015 and we could achieve our year goal ideas together.

With the new year almost upon us I am really looking forward to making some major changes in 2015. Every year I like many others attempt to change things and often fail at my new years resolutions but then again I suppose half the fun is in the trying. Don’t get me wrong I have managed to stick to some of my new years resolutions since last year, like managing to lose weight (although still not enough) and spending more time with the kids. This year I want to change a little more and stick to my decisions, battling on whilst being a mum to my tween and teen. So this year I am stepping up to the plate and I am attempting to go the extra mile and do things better, because there’s always room for improvement!

New Years Resolutions 2015 u me and the kids

The first thing I have to remember is to not set my new years resolutions too high, but at very least within reach! That way nothing can stop me, yeah right!

At this stage improving myself seems an easy task but I am sure thats not going to be the case, I mean I have attempted to stop eating chocolate several times this year but those giant cadbury’s buttons keep sucking me in, I might go grab a few right now actually.

So, whilst I sit here planning what I want to improve about my lifestyle I try to remember what others have achieved this year. I have seen bloggers lose weight and when I say weight they have totally transformed themselves with a 6 week challenge and I am like “Dear god I wish I could do that!” So to those ladies who have lost weight WELL DONE especially Jo Laybourn from My Monkeys Don’t Sit Still!

So without further ado here are my New Years resolutions that I aim to achieve before the end of 2015.

My Top 10 New Years Resolution Ideas

1.Be More Prepared and plan ahead

This is a tough one! I try and try to be more organised when it comes to blogging and doing things around the home but often find myself thinking about other things (I am sure I day dream). I want to have everything ready from school meals, ironing and blog posts which should give me a little more time for me and my family. This might stop my husband moaning about not spending enough time together, although I suppose he could chip in a little more when he is not at work nudge, nudge.

2.Learn a language

Now, I no some may think I struggle with my 1st language English “I am only joking by the way”. I would love to learn French, Italian or Polish believe it or not. These languages would help me out so much I have friends from all over the world and I suppose it’s very ignorant of me not being able to speak to them in their own language I bet they would love it or at very least have a laugh at me attempting their language.

3.Spend more time with my extended family

This one slightly saddens me. I don’t visit hardly anyone in my extended family and this year we have had a real shock because my wonderful grandmother has been very ill lately and it’s kind of upset me through the festive period because I just keep thinking I wish I had gone to her house so much more to see her. I used to love spending time with her as a child and even through my teens. I now I feel I should have paid more attention as an adult. I aim to learn from this by spending more time around all of my family, although they may get a little fed up with me going to their homes all the time. If you didn’t see it here is my niece singing frozen when she spent a little time with me this year, she still talks about it all of the time bless, I suppose this shows the great things that come with spending time with the family.

4.Tone up the wobbly bits

Dear god it’s time to stop the bouncy bits which most of us ladies have and get toning my bum, legs and tum not to mention my arms. I want to look like I have been hitting a Jane Fonda fitness dvd since birth so I aim to start making myself trim and toned ready for the summer.

5.More Personality in my posts

That’s right start to comment on others blogs and show my personality a little more when writing personal posts. Maybe drop the F Bomb every now and again (I can’t even write that in this post for gods sake) but when I do you may have to watch out because it could get messy.

6.Grow my nails

I must stop biting my nails! I have had a very lavish nail care set bought for me as a gift this Christmas and if I carry on biting my nails I will never get to try it out! I also love coming up with makeup ideas so I am aiming to talk much more about this subject here on my blog.

7.Be more Fashionable

I would really love to update my wardrobe and be a little bit more daring when it comes to trying out new styles without looking like mutton dressed as lamb!

8.Go on Holiday abroad

As a family we haven’t had a proper holiday together abroad for years, In fact we have only got as far as France all together and this was over 6 years ago. I shouldn’t moan as we have had a few lovely breaks away in the UK since. This year I would love to go abroad with my husband to Italy, we have never had a holiday together in the UK or abroad and it would be lovely to spend some quality time together in a beautiful country. I could even use my new found language skills, although this is just a pipe dream, but a nice dream at that! An even bigger dream is to take the whole family on the trip of a lifetime to the USA. This is one place we can all agree on when it comes to choosing a holiday destination.

I would love to see the shock and smiles on their faces if I could achieve this, although I think I need more than a year to plan and save for a holiday like this.

9.Dramatic hair change

I aim to be a little bit more daring with my hair in 2015. I need to take a few style risks when it comes to the length and style of my hair. I have started to slightly change the colour by adding some low lights in and I intend to add more and more every time I have my hair coloured.

10.Learn to Relax

I seriously need to learn to relax more, less time on the PC, and stress over the housework, and learning to chill out. I haven’t quite decided on how and if I will be able to achieve this as I have a few medical issues that get in the way of being able to do this, which I plan to talk about on my blog this year, hopefully, been able to help others in the same position. I have narrowed it down to Yoga, Tai chi, or meditating. I have also started to look at CBD and THC products to relax me and also help with stress. I did some research on these and similar products on this website, so you might want to do the same.

Your Turn! I would seriously love to hear your new Year’s resolution ideas for 2015! You never know maybe if you tell me some of yours I may add them to mine!

My 2015 resolutions are – to get my hair cut (first time in something like 4 years!), and I’d like to lose around 3 stones before my wedding in October :). Oh and the main one, is to cook from scratch more / cook healthier meals for the family 🙂

@vikkisanderson my gosh 4 years that’s some stay power ha! I bet it looks lovely and I think you are brave for getting it cut. I hope you achieve your weight Loss and I would love to see the results so please don’t be a stranger and let me know how you go on. I think the healthier meals will come part and parcel of losing the weight. You will do awesome lady x

It’s not in the best condition and really needs a cut, I want it long for the wedding so will get it cut after that! (The last time I had my hair cut I had most of it shaved off – one extreme to the other haha).
I lost over 2 stone before christmas but have put 1 stone back on through December! I’m determined to lose a stone by 30th Jan, as my birthday is the 31st and I’m going for a few drinks with friends and family!

@vikkisanderson:disqus I find when I leave my hair uncut for even a few months it starts to get on my nerves. I can’t believe you had most of it shaved off before I would love to see what you looked like with that hair style, I bet it suited you actually, although I think you must be very brave (I would probably cry if I had mine shaved short)! I have put weight on over the xmas period but I don’t buy scales because the temptation of weighing myself every day would really be unbearable and probably leave me feeling down about myself. You have done really well losing 2 stone I am sure you will achieve your goal by the 31st and lose the stone before. Good luck!!!!
