When I think of the word Popsicle, I immediately imagine strawberry lollipops, blue skies dotted with perfect white fluffy clouds and pastel colours! Everyone interprets a theme or word differently, after all it would be a very dull world if we all had the same personality, taste and styles.
How Popsicle is defined
“The Popsicle trend is all about colour and using it playfully in your home decor. Colours that fade in and out of each other, creating soft and subtle illusions inside your home or personal space. This can be displayed in small bursts of colour to rooms filled with a bright blast of colours.
My home decor at the moment could really do with an injection of what I interpret ‘Popsicle’ to brighten my plain, neutral base of my living room. So, I would like to explore a little with new pastel colours, unique pieces of furniture and mingle this in with my very own personality and style.
Creating a Popsicle theme using my past, present and future?
Start with the Past!
Growing up, every Easter, My Mum used to buy me a new outfit to wear on our yearly trip to the seaside. One outfit that stands out in my mind poignantly was an outfit that fits the Pastel home decor theme perfectly. Turquoise jacket and pumps, pale lemon trousers and bright white coloured t-shirts, all finished with ribbons in my pigtails with a mix of all the soft pastel colours made up from my outfit.
In my mind all of those colours I can see in this stunning Air Balloon Cushion from Graham & Brown. A perfect accessory to brighten up an old chair and breathe some freshness into your home decor scheme.
The colours of my childhood toys, care bears and my little pony’s remind me so much of the pastel shades, like radiant rainbows. I recently found the picture below that was taken of my and my sister in our bedroom when we were children as you can see bright bedding and pastel colours where very much part of my childhood.
Let’s move on to the Present
I have such a blank canvas in my living room at the moment so finding any traces of the Popsicle theme was a task. I really need to inject just a little colour to my light wood floor and a very light shade of grey painted walls.
My home decor needs just a little touch of personality, whilst still leaving my home decor light, breezy and most of all calming. The Popsicle theme can be found in my Retro 1960’s style telephone which is a swedish green colour.
My son recently dip dyed some t-shirts for summer in pastel blues & Pink shades which I can imagine the same graduated colours fading in and out of one another, looking fantastic in my living room.
Thinking of the Future
I can see or maybe dream into the future of me getting my very own space. A place to rest, write, read a book or even get some relaxation! An ideal space would be a Summer house, away from all the hustle and bustle of the home.
A simple space could be decorated with Chinoiserie Parchment wallpaper on the walls by Graham & Brown.Ombre prints with inspirational quotes such as ‘Dream as Big as the Ocean’ and ‘Love is in the air’. A comfy, snuggly, plain coloured sofa would be decorated with Bright and beautiful unique typography cushions to compliment the wall art and bring a feel good atmosphere into my summer home!
Could you imagine the Popsicle theme in your home?
