Asda Christmas Show 2016

August 22, 2016 | 1 Comment

In July every year I always have a few very special events to attend in London, so July in the world of a blogger is like Christmas has come early, yes that’s right we get to experience Christmas in July, crazy right!

The supermarket I was very excited to see what they had in store for Christmas 2016 was Asda, so I was very excited to receive an invitation to take a sneak peek at all the yummy Christmas food and gifts to share with my lovely readers #Asdaxmas.

Asda Christmas 2016

The venue Asda had chosen to host their event was breathtaking. The building was stunning and a perfect backdrop for the Christmas festive delights that were on display for us to view and more importantly have a nibble.

My first stop was to have a glass of champagne , yes at 10.30am extremely early but for that one day, Asda was replicating Christmas so it would have been rude not to have a cheeky glass of champers!

There was a massive selection of cocktails, wines and prosecco on offer to sample with a lovely barman on hand to make a Christmas cocktail, my kind of bar!

I then got the chance to sample a wide choice of meats, party food, desserts and confectionery and even take a look at a selection of home wear and clothing that will be hitting our Asda stores in the run up to Christmas.

If I hadn’t been spoilt enough, the new face of Asda celebrity chef James Martin put in a very special appearance demonstrating delicious festive dishes all made from ingredients available in Asda stores.

I even got the chance to get up close and personal with James Martin and ask quite a few questions and got some great tips on how I can make my Christmas dinner preparations run smoothly. It was such a treat to meet such a lovely down to earth man and the fact he is from Yorkshire gets him bonus points too!

Asda asked me to choose my own 2 top picks from all the festive food for Christmas 2016.It was a really hard choice but I finally decided on these Christmas delights.

The Extra Special sprout and Elemental Gratin for a tasty twist on the traditional Christmas Veg

Beech smoked bacon, sprouts smothered in a creamy garlic and Elemental sauce. The gratin has been sprinkled with shaved Emmental for a scrumptious side dish. One for even the sprout haters this Christmas.

My second choice was the Extra Special Tiered Christmas Pie Cake. A stunning 3 tier pie filled with 3 different flavours to suit all tastes. The 3 handmade pies are perfect for a party centrepiece to wow guests or for feeding the family come Boxing Day.

With a Turkey, ham & apricot pie, Stilton & Cranberry pie and a smaller game pie that sits on top for something rich and comforting.

What else I am excited for this Christmas

The kids and big kids will be loving all the 3D novelty chocolate character treats this year, yet they are almost too cute to eat but are extremely delicious.Who will you choose from cheeky Monkey, Holly Hippo, Mr Cool and Santa?

When it comes to deserts this Christmas Asda has gone all out, from a stunning Winter Snowflake cake to my kids favourite The Christmas pudding smash cake, which I was lucky enough to take home and do the taste test with my boys with a mug of hot chocolate whilst it was warm and sunny outside!

It was lovely to see that even if you have a food intolerance you shouldn’t miss out on a Christmas treat . With the free from Christmas Tree shape cupcake pack, everyone can have a special treat over the festive season.

George Home Christmas 2016

This year you can expect nordic inspired minimalism decorations and homeware to opulent jewel tones of the orient and as far as Vegas inspired show-stopping circus themed baubles and oversized stars and neon brights.

I love this simplistic look, perfect to match my home decor.
