Bedroom makeover – Home-Made Feature Headboard

The Home-made Feature headboard

 home-made-bed-head

This week, me and my husband have been decorating our bedroom. We decided to do this on as low a budget as possible, so unique ideas had to come into play here, especially with our bedroom makeover.

Firstly we stripped and repainted the entire room a kind of light grey color, this is one of our personal favourite colours. I think this colour makes the room look and feel, so much bigger.

Now we really wanted to do something different with the feature wall behind the bed, thinking of different bedroom decor on a low budget is hard work. I did choose some wallpapers originally, but my husband came up with another bedroom decor idea for our bedroom makeover.

Now I always let my husbands mind run free, he has a great creative side and he makes loads of unique and nice things for our home.

He came up with an idea, that I really loved for our bedroom makeover, I hope you love this idea too.

So here is my husbands unique bedroom makeover idea.

Firstly Mark went to my fathers house, who had some old pallets of wood. Mark and my father broke these pallets down, and created the below out of the wood.

(At this stage, I was really trying hard to see what Marks idea actually was going to turn out like, slightly worried).

Mark then began to paint the wood, he wanted to let the old wood show through, this was to give it and older used look.

Once the white paint had been applied, Mark began to draw the letters on the wood using a ruler. This stage does take time, although Mark really enjoyed doing this.

Once the letters had been drawn on the white surface of the wood, Mark then began to use masking tape before painting the inside of the lettering, he had already drawn on the wood.

I was really thinking at this stage, would this actually go with the bedroom decor in our room. Anyway below is the finished article, this is after being placed on the wall above our bed. I am actually really happy with this and I really can’t believe he has created a unique and one off feature for our bedroom makeover. This cost in total around £6, ok yeah he spent a couple of hours on this, but if i saw this in a shop I would certainly buy it.

I really hope you like this, he really enjoyed making it and if you want any further instruction please don’t hesitate to ask.

We still have to find some new bed side lights, and maybe add some more lovely items but I think it is really coming along.

I will further updated this, when we have finished the room in full, I thought you might like to have a look.

It’s unique and fun too. I really like it!!! I saw someone else use pallets, and distress the wood (Simpy Vintageous…by Suzan), I thought it was cool there and I think it’s cool here too.
