Creating a Summer Survival Kit with Tesco Summer Boost

August 15, 2015 | 6 Comments

No summer holidays are complete without a trip to our favourite seaside. This Summer I have been challenged by Tesco to put together an ultimate family summer survival kit for a trip to the beach using only £20 worth of clubcard points. During the summer clubcard points are being doubled so now is the best time to to save yourself some money.

At first I thought this was a bit of a tall order! It’s not easy to put together a list of useful things when you in essence have £20 to spend at Tesco. That amount of money was never going to be enough to buy all the survival items I had in mind for my family. I literally have to think of everything that could be useful but I need to be creative making sure I don’t exceed my spend limit.

Using the Tesco Clubcard Boost promotion once again made it quite possible for me to exchange my saved clubcard vouchers and get the items I required. This summer the points are doubled up which you can spend both online and instore, although they do have certain restrictions. You can learn about the scheme here.

Summer Double Boost

Doubling the points up gave me £40 to exchange for the items I required for my summer survival kit. Luckily for me outdoor equipment and toys were just two of the departments included within the summer clubcard boost.

It’s a good job really because the school holidays can play havoc with our spending throughout the summer. I try to come up with ideas constantly to keep the kids entertained, so we can have fun and not break the bank.

Armed with my laptop, I began to search for toys and equipment that are required for days out with kids. I would have done this in store but time did not permit me to do so. This is due to me looking after my little nephew whilst my sister keeps working during the summer school holidays, he certainly keeps me on my toes…

With plenty of activities for the kids planned, one being a trip to the coast. I like to be prepared and creating this survival kit is essential for my family cutting our costs. At least this year I will be super organised for our days out. Our Survival kit only cost £20 in clubcard vouchers take a look at what we managed to get below…summer tesco clubcard boost survival kit

Summer Survival Kit

  1. Family Fleece Turquoise Picnic Blanket – £8.00
  2. Truxx Excavator Sand & Water Toy – £4.00
  3. 25 Piece Sand Accessory Set – £10.00
  4. 2 x  Grey Folding Camping Chairs – 2 for £10.00
  5. Small Orange Charcoal Bucket BBQ – £8.00

I am sure you will be as amazed as I am with the amount of outdoor toys & equipment Tesco actually have to offer on their summer clubcard boost scheme. These products in my summer survival kit will not only be great for a day out at the beach, but they perfect for our scheduled camping trips and picnics too!

What’s inside my Survival Kit?

In my Summer survival kit I have sand & water toys for my nephew and the boys to build sand castles and forts on the beach. The fold away chairs are for me and my husband to Sit back and have a much needed relax on!

We also have chosen a comfy, bright & fun looking turquoise fleece picnic rug. This I feel is perfect for enjoy eating those traditional Seaside Fish & Chips on. The days are quite long when ever we go. It’s easier to have more than one food option and I think taking my own burgers and sausages to cook on the mini barbeques will fill one of the day’s meals nicely.

It’s simple yet quite effective. I want to carry quite light and have useful on hand at the beach. So this summer survival kit is great for me and my family.

With these products at hand we will hopefully have money to spare at the end of the day to buy Ice creams and play our favourite arcade penny slot machines.
