Make your own Homemade chocolate hearts

Homemade chocolate hearts

This Week me and my son decided to get creative in the kitchen and make these fabulous chocolate hearts ready for Valentines day.

Homemade Chocolate Hearts make the perfect gift – whether as a romantic gesture or a show of affection for anyone who you love.

We start collecting the weekly magazine called ‘Something Sweet’, with issue1 which was 99p and can still be found in some shops, you got this great heart shaped mould to make these chocolates. Don’t worry if you missed it, they are plenty of chocolate moulds around in the shops for Valentines day, you may even have one lying around from last year!

Ingredients to make the Homemade Chocolate Hearts

300g Chocolate (white, dark or milk)

Wrapping foils

Gift box to present them in

Equipment needed

Mixing bowl

Saucepan

Heart shaped mould

Gold/silver/Red Foils

How to make the Chocolate hearts

Break the chocolate into chunks into a mixing bowl and perch it on top of a saucepan that’s half filled with water. The base of the bowl should not touch the water, as this would heat up the chocolate too quickly. Bring the water to a gentle simmer and don’t let it boil.

Once the chocolate is melted, pour the chocolate into the heart shaped mould, this part got very messy in our house!  It’s lots of fun and licking the bowl or spoon is our favourite part

Transfer the finished mould to set in a cool, dry place to set for approximately 1 to 2 hours.

Once the chocolates have set remove them carefully from the mould and decorate with foils if desired!

Or you can present them in a gift box like the below picture!

If you do attempt to make these heart shaped treats, I hope it turns out amazing for you.

Giving this as a gift should please anyone who receives them, I know my husband will be over the moon.

this is a charming and true labour of love but I can’t help wondering if it was cost effective, How much did you spend on the materials and was it cheaper than buying mass produced ?
