Primula Kids blogger challenge #backtoschoolsqueeze
Last week us parent bloggers, were challenged by Primula to come up with some fun recipes using their new Primula Kids Cheese.
Why use Primula Kids Cheese?
Primula is a squeezy cheese, perfect for your children as it has no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives with reduced salt as well as added calcium.
Myself and my son Jake headed to the kitchen, to get creative and a little messy (as normal) to see just what wonders we could create with this tasty cheesy product.
Jake’s favourite food is cheesy pasta, he would eat it for breakfast, lunch and tea if I were to let him! I am always conscious when making cheesy pasta just how much fat content the cheese contains. Using the Primula squeezy cheese was a great opportunity to make kid friendly easy pasta dish.
Squeezy Cheesey Pasta Recipe
Although a rather easy recipe, my family love this type of dish. It’s great for both taste and energy keeping the family fueled throughout the entire evening, however this is the first attempt using Primula Kids Cheese.
Ingredients
- Tri-Colour Pasta
- Water
- Primula Kids Cheese (This dish would not be the same without it).
- Yorkshire Ham
- Garlic Bread
Preparation
We made our usual tri-colour pasta because I always think adding anything colorful to a dish makes it much more appealing to children. Whilst the pasta was still warm, Jake squeezed a tube of Primula Kids Cheese into the pan and stirred it in until it covered the pasta in a blanket of cheesy yumminess!
I sliced thin strips of Yorkshire ham and decorated the pasta with some ‘ham twists’ before serving this simple, tasty yet wholesome dish with a slice of Garlic bread.
The garlic bread also had a thin layer of Primula cheese spread on to it, which I grilled for 8 minutes.
Overall this dish only takes around 15 minutes to be prepared, and it is seriously a life saver of a recipe for any busy mother and father who needs to prepare something quick for lunch.
A simple tweak for Vegetarians
Being a vegetarian, we replaced the ‘Ham twists’ with ‘Quorn strips’ for that added low-fat protein kick to the Pasta, I also use Sliced Pork or Quorn Sausages if I have no Quorn slices.
Now it’s your turn! This low cost money saving mid-week recipe, which honestly tastes amazing using the Primula Cheese is something which can be accomplished on almost all family budgets.
This week is national baking week 14th to 19th October – for some amazing and delicious recipes take a look at Primula Recipes for some great ideas!
I would love to hear what recipes everyone else has made using the Primula Kids Cheese, hopefully give me some cooking ideas!
* We were sent 3 tubes of Primula cheese to take part in this challenge, however the recipe and thoughts are my own*
