Mothers Day is all about celebrating Mums and everything they do on an everyday basis for their families. There is always such a high expectation around Mothers Day. Every card shop and high street stores lead you to believe that every Mother on Mothers day should be sat feet up reading a book or watching their favourite TV show, whilst your children smother you with kisses, flowers and chocolates. Sounds great ,add in their husband cleaning the house, preparing all the meals, dressing the kids leaving us Mums to relax, have a bubble bath run for you with a lush bath bomb and spend the day in complete peace and quiet, This all sounds like the perfect day although a little unrealistic.
In reality my Mothers day this year will be quite the opposite, So my plans for Mothers Day will be very different.
I normally spend Mothers Day with my husband and boys fitting in a visit to my mum and my Nana to give them their cards and Mothers day gifts. This year, my eldest son has abandoned me to stay at his girlfriends for the weekend and my husband is working taking the car with him making me unable to visit my Mum.
My expectations for Mothers day
I will wake up to getting my son his breakfast whilst looking shocked as I open all the gifts that I have bought, whilst he tucks into the Thornton’s chocolates that again I have bought!
- I will prepare food for the School packed lunches the next day, do the washing and Iron the school uniforms.
- Clean the house, make the beds and go on homework duty checking that everything is done and if not give him a push!
- Give my mum a call to wish her a Happy Mothers Day.
- Make lunch and tea for my husband and youngest son.
- Collect my eldest son from the train station after tea.
- check my emails and finish work I have on my to do list!
My youngest son is turning Mothers Day into ‘ Musketeers Mothers Day’ this is our favourite show and we always watch it together, we have recorded the last three episodes and we are going to snuggle up in our PJ’s with popcorn and chocolate and have a mammoth TV fest.
My day will be pretty much like any other, the jobs do not stop just because it’s mothers day but for me it will still be enjoyable as I have the best mum in the world and two loving and caring boys, so I feel utterly blessed and do not need cards and flowers to remind me that I am a Mum, although they are a lovely bonus.
I will take a little me time once everyone has gone to bed and I can get some quiet time with a cup of tea watching my favourite TV show Long Island Medium. I love watching people trying to contact their loved ones that are no longer with them, making me feel even more blessed that I have my loved ones with me, who love me and I don’t need a huge bouquet of flowers and lavish gifts to tell me that. My Mother-In -Law is also a fan of watching Medium shows on TV, In fact I might even purchase her a Pre-Pay Call package from TheCircle for her Birthday. I have only recently discovered TheCircle, the UK’s most trusted psychic reading service with a 100% money back guarantee. I know a reading is something she is desperate to have.
