My son has always been a huge Teddy Bear fan, so I was very excited to hear Build-A-Bear Workshop are celebrating their favourite holiday National Teddy Bear Day in stores on September 9th With £5 teddy bears, all while helping children across the globe. They are also celebrating with a National Teddy Bear Day Twitter Party, encouraging fans to share a favourite teddy bear or Build-A-Bear Workshop memory on Twitter and here at umeandthekids, we are hosting a competition to win a £100 Build-A-Bear Workshop Gift Card, just think of how many bears you could create with this fantastic prize.
I remember the first time I visited a Build-A-Bear Store with my son on its opening day in my local shopping centre, where my son created his very first bear and we have become regular visitors to the store ever since!
Our Build-A-Bear Workshop memories
When Build-A-Bear opened in my local town, we had never encountered anything like it before. A place where not only can you purchase a special bear of your choice but where you actually create it too from start to finish. My son loved the whole experience, especially making a wish as he put the heart inside every teddy bear he has created. No other store could grab the attention of my son when it came to spending his pocket-money and creating bears for friends and families for Birthdays and Christmas.
Creating the birth certificate was always the fun part, choosing what to call his new creations, the fun didn’t stop there as he loved to watch his creations come to life on Buildabearville, the on-line game he used to play.
I think up to press we have collected over 30 bears including limited edition bears, Christmas collections and his Pokemon Pikachu, who came with a special edition, Pokemon Card!
We have celebrated a fair few Birthday celebrations in our local Build a bear too, with fun and games and with each guest getting to create a bear of their own to take home with them after the party had ended.
How will you be celebrating National Teddy Bear Day?
To mark the National Teddy Bear Day, guests of Build-A-Bear Workshop stores can make their own limited-edition National Teddy Bear Day bear for just £5 in stores on Friday, Sept. 9. This is the first time the brand has created a commemorative bear for National Teddy Bear Day. Two additional bears Lil’ Vanilla Bean Cub and Lil’ Hazelnut Cub will also be available for £5 each.
Guests can purchase a maximum of five £5 bears, while supplies last.
In the spirit of the brand’s mission to “add a little more heart to life,” for every £5 bear purchased on Sept. 9, Build-A-Bear will donate a furry friend to Childhood First, in the United Kingdom.
The brand will celebrate its 20th birthday in 2017, and 2016’s National Teddy Bear Day marks the kick-off of more than a year of celebrations.
