Top Things to Do in Australia

April 9, 2024 | Leave a Comment

Known as the Land Down Under, Australia is an excellent travel destination for families, couples, or even friends. Although it ranks as one of the largest countries in the world, close to half of the island is uninhabited. You’ll be impressed by the natural wonders in the country, as well as its varied flora and fauna. So, what exactly can you do on your Australia trip? Read on to find out.

Enjoy Wildlife Encounters

Australia is home to many unique animals. Some of these are the frilled-neck lizard, kangaroos, the spotted-tailed quoll, and the platypus. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot some of these animals in the wild. But there are many parks you can visit to see them. Keep in mind that you’ll be helping in the conservation efforts when you visit these parks or zoos. Wildlife encounters are especially good for family holidays in Australia. Your kids won’t just get fascinated by the animals; they’ll also develop a love for animals and will be more empathetic to the creatures.

Visit the Whitsundays Islands

The Whitsundays Islands are located just over 30 miles off the Queensland Coast. This tropical paradise has everything you’ll need for an awesome vacation. The place has secluded beaches and world-class luxury accommodations. One of the biggest highlights of these islands is the swirling waters of Whitehaven. The sand on the beach is almost entirely silica, making it a breathtaking sight.

Sunbathe with Kangaroos

Most people think of kangaroos when they hear the name ‘Australia’. These fascinating marsupials have become a national symbol of the country. It’s easy to spot kangaroos in the wild. But an even better experience is to sunbathe with these animals. So, where can you go to sunbathe with them? The best place is Lucky Bay in southern Western Australia. Kangaroos live on this beach, but you should plan your visit at dawn or dusk. This is because kangaroos are nocturnal creatures. Something to keep in mind is that you should never feed animals in the wild. Doing this can cause an array of problems, including digestion problems. Avoid touching them also. If you want to feed or touch kangaroos, you should instead visit a zoo that offers this activity.

Learn to Surf

Surfing is a popular activity in Australia. The country is surrounded by a coastline, and its beaches are suitable for beginners as well as experienced surfers. One of the best places to visit for surfing is Bondi Beach in Sydney. The beach has sparkling waters and golden sands. Another iconic surfing destination is Manly Beach. You’ll notice that this beach has a laid-back surfing culture, and its breaks are consistent. Other great places to visit for surfing are Byron Bay, Bells Beach, and Cape Woolamai. If you’re a beginner, you should sign up for a class or small group sessions. The advantage of these lessons is that they cover safety and surfing etiquette on top of surfing techniques.

Australia is among the top travel destinations in the world, and this is primarily because it offers many unique experiences. One thing you should do on your Australia trip is to experience the wildlife in the country. Lots of unusual animals live in Australia, so don’t miss the chance to visit zoos and natural places to see them. Consider sunbathing with kangaroos as well. Beaches in Australia are known for their beauty, so make sure you visit them as well. Remember to carry your surfing gear as the waters are perfect for surfers at all levels. Some of the best surfing locations in the country are Bondi Beach, Manly Beach, and Byron Bay.
