Explore Bedfordshire for a Fun Day Out with the Kids

March 15, 2020 | Leave a Comment

If you are looking for somewhere to take the kids for a fun day out then there are many great places to consider up and down the country. One place which is certainly worth visiting is Bedfordshire in East England as this is a beautiful part of the world and somewhere with a handful of lovely towns to explore all of which have many attractions and fun things to do with kids. Here are three places which you should certainly consider for a fun family day out.

Bedford

Bedford is a very pretty town with a huge amount to see and do with the kids. There are lots of beautiful parks and green spaces to explore on warmer days along with a number of excellent museums and galleries, such as the Higgins Bedford and the John Bunyan Museum. Herring Green Activity Farm is also a brilliant attraction that kids tend to love and somewhere to see a wide variety of birds of prey, including falcons, hawks and owls. As the county town of Bedfordshire, this is also somewhere that is easy to reach with trains to Bedford coming from all areas and just an hour from the capital.

Luton

Luton is another attractive town in Bedfordshire with historic buildings, plenty of family-friendly attractions and surrounding countryside. Stockwood Park is lovely to explore on a warm summer’s day and is home to the Stockwood Discovery Centre which has all kinds of fun for kids, including outdoor play areas, interactive exhibits and greenhouses. A few miles down the road you also have the superb WhipsnadeZoo which is the biggest in the UK and somewhere that kids love due to the sheer size and wide variety of animals on show, including lions, elephants, rhinos, sea lions and rare butterflies. This means that there is more enough to keep the kids entertained for a whole day with something for everyone.

Woburn

The village of Woburn is often overlooked as somewhere to explore which is a shame because It has so much to offer but this does mean that it is somewhat of a hidden gem. Woburn Abbey is a stunning building set in picturesque gardens that even feature their own deer park. In addition to this, Woburn Safari Park has both a road and foot safari with over 1,000 animals to observe, including giraffes, elephants, monkeys, sea lions and many more beautiful creatures. Bedfordshire is a beautiful and fun area with plenty to keep the kids happy on a day out. These three towns are all highly worth visiting because they have all kinds of different attractions and something for everyone so you should easily be able to fill your day and have a great time with your family.
