Candy Hero Leeds Review – American Sweet Treats

November 12, 2012 | Leave a Comment

Updated 21-08/2015

I must say I have a real sweet tooth. Leeds has two great stores where you can pick up imported sweets in the city centre itself. In my opinion Candy Hero Leeds is probably the better of the two and quite reasonably priced. The store opened in 2012 and since this date we always seem to make the odd trip to the sweety store to pick up some fun treats for the kids.

The Candy Hero Leeds Store is situated on lands lane near the headrow entrance. The store is so popular you always seem to have plenty of people queuing at any given time.

Candy hero sells plenty of sweets from other countries, but we pretty much go there to get imports from America. Both of my boys love to try sweets from the USA mainly because you can’t just buy them in any store and they have lots of friends online from the US.

Their friends tend to tell them what new sweets and drinks are available over there and like all teens they want to get their hands on them too.

You can find a list of their products online. I thought I would show you just some of the imports we have managed to get our hands on in this blog post and tell you a little about each of them.

Candy Hero Leeds Store

Candy Hero Leeds Sweetshop Review!

I have here a sample of some of the goodies they sell in Store and on-line! You can have them delivered direct to your door. Before 2pm Candy Hero will ship your sweeties the same day! In some cases you would also qualify for free UK delivery generally on orders on £25. Candy Hero also ship their products worldwide, so no matter where you live you can get your hands on their sweeties.

Candy Hero Leeds products we like

Although you would have thought Candy from america would taste the same as the UK in most cases it doesn’t! You will also find the packaging quite different to our sweets in the UK and often they are themed or much more fun looking than our own products.

Before the opening of Candy Hero in Leeds. I actually had no idea where I could buy these types of sweets from and now they are on my doorstep. It’s also great that you can buy online too, because anyone reading this article can try these products too.

Candy Hero Products we Love

1. America’s Welch’s Grape Soda

Price £ 1.20

Welch’s Grape Soda – Before this drink we had never tasted grape in drink format before. The soft drink is only flavoured very subtle and it’s quite refreshing. I would highly recommend and you can learn more about the product here Welch’s Grape Soda.

Candy Hero Leeds eating the products

2. Pop Tarts Hot Fudge Sundae

Price £3.95

My son is a massive fan of Pop Tarts, yet, in the UK we do not get half the amount of the awesome flavours as they do in the US. As far as I am aware supermarkets only  stock standard Strawberry and chocolate flavours, although ASDA are starting to sell more american candy since being part of the wal-mart group. The Fudge Sundae flavour is much loved in our house, but I only buy this as a special treat. I generally give the boys the pop tarts early on a morning before they start their day from candy hero!

mario power up energy drink
3. Mario Power Up Drink

Price £2.45
The Mario Power up drink  is great. my eldest son loves this energy drink. Not only is a great little buy, you can actually save the can like my son does to display proudly in their bedrooms. This official nintendo Mario Power up drink is great for any Mario fan. Be like Mario and power yourself up too!
muddy bears

4. Milk Chocolate covered Muddy Bears!

Price £2.20

Muddy bears are actually gummi bears with chocolate coating. To be honest I didn’t know If I would like these muddy bears at first. I don’t know why, but the kids wanted to try them so I thought, why not!

At first could not get my head around the thought of jelly and chocolate combined but after eating a few, I realised they do taste quite nice indeed! Candy Hero do seem to have really thought about what products they import from america. Because at this stage I haven’t found anything I don’t like.

bean boozled dare and compare

5. Jelly Beans – Bean Boozled

Priced at £2.50

Jelly Bean – Bean Boozled are a very strange concept. You can pick one flavour bean that you like. You could the same looking bean and it could taste gastly. This is more of a fun idea a little like revels. You either love them or hate them. I can’t say these were my favourite due to the taste changes, but the kids really enjoyed Beans Boozled and had a laugh doing so. I can almost guarantee. If you have never had this product before you will never have tried the flavours in such a fashion.

cotton candy pop rocks

6. Cotton Candy Pop Rocks

Price £0.99

Cotton Candy Pop Rocks are a fun popping candy that are based on the same recipe from the 1950’s. As expected each piece of candy you place in your mouth just pops over and over again. The pop rocks make your tongue tingle and taste lovely.

Candy Hero keep getting new products in the store and every time me and the boys go to town we love to see what else is on sale. So, when you are next in Leeds or maybe you are looking for a great gift online Candy Hero is certainly one place I would at least begin to look for unusual candy in the UK.
