As with most all popular games these past few weeks, Destiny has begun its annual Halloween event Festival Of The Lost – Destiny Halloween 2016 and those who were present for the previous ‘Festival of the Lost’ (Watch the Trailer here) will know what this entails, however for the one’s viewing who are out of the loop, let’s review the basics of the two-time event.
To begin with, the Destiny Halloween 2016 event this year contains 3 separate quests all gravitating around completing objectives while wearing particulate masks, all of which are the few masks available for free. These are the Speaker mask, Traveler Mask, Saladin Mask, Crota Mask, Uncommon Engram Mask and the Cryptarch Mask.
For these quests, you will be given a couple of rewards. First off is the Sweet Memories quest, gotten from Eva Levante in the Tower – The women who sells shaders – and you will be required to make a milk run around the tower, collecting candy from many notable figures from the Destiny lore. When you are done, return to Eva to be given the Uncommon Engram mask and a quest to simply get thirty kills in the crucible whilst wearing any of the Engram Masks. Once this is over, return to Eva to finish the quest which will give you the Tiger Mask. This will also unlock the next two quests, the first being ‘Old Wolf, New Tricks’ quest given in the Iron Temple, you will be rewarded with the Saladin’s Mask and ‘Frame’s Honor’ Legendary Icon. This quest requires you to kill 50 enemies using Solar Abilities – Grenades, Melee and Supers – and 25 with the Relic Axe, both of which are easy enough farming low tier Archons Forge Offerings. Finally, there is the final quest, which is also the longest and most rewarding, ‘Masker Plan’.
Now, this is by far the hardest of the three, but it isn’t without some easy solutions. To begin with, you’ll be tasked to complete three public events, such as Archons Forge, wearing the Tiger mask and obtain any 10 engrams with the Cryptarch Mask on. You may be wondering how to get the Cryptic Cryptarch mask, due to the fact it has not been a reward yet and the answer is as follows: Earlier, when I mentioned collecting candy from key characters, it wasn’t just cosmetic, it sets you well on your way to filling up your ‘Candy Bag’, an item which stores 150 candy earned by completing objects and killing enemies while using a mask, though the most efficient way of filling it up by far is the crucible. When it is filled, you can redeem it at Eva to obtain either the Cryptarch, Speaker, Crota masks, or a consumable which contains some temporary animation changers (the Jackolyte and Flight of Shadows) and the chance at the exclusive ‘Sea of Tears’ shader. Once you’ve finished the previously mentioned objectives, you will be given the Traveler Mask. For the final objective, you must complete one heroic strike as the speaker and one ‘Stolen Rune’ in the Court of Oryx on the Dreadnaught. While the last one is a matter of farming out the rune if you don’t have one already, the first is a 350 high-intensity encounter while wearing an item with no light level, incurring a significant penalty. As such, the trick to completing this quest is simple, get the strike boss to low health, put on the mask, and proceed to blow up the final remnants of life they hold on to. This counts as a completion and, once you redeem the quest, you will be given a ‘Treasure of the Lost’, a cash only item which costs 200 silver, the equivalent to roughly £2.00 which contains one exclusive mask and a possible number of other Items including new ornaments for the Bad Juju Exotic Pulse Rifle to change how it looks, a sparrow, one of two Ghosts and some animation changers.
While that concludes the available content, there are a few new things. For example, all social spaces have been decorated with festive decor including many of the characters wearing masks and a giant symbol projected onto the traveller along with all crucible matches taking place at night, 5 emotes have appeared for silver, two new, two old. First off, the Zombie Dance and Monster Dance have returned from last year, both costing 500 silver, the Boo emote has also returned for 300 silver and they are joined by the new Howl and Terrify emotes costing 300 and 500 silver respectively. These will be gone once the festival departs of the 8th of November so pick these up fast! There is also an exclusive emblem for purchasing any ‘Festival of the Lost’ item from the bungie store along with 4 new shaders each earned in their own unique ways. Finally, there is also a limited time Sparrow called the ‘Lost Broom’, which is quite literally a broom that you can ride on able to be found in the tower, in the dance club’s shelves underneath the Future War Cult vendor in the Hanger.
That is all for today guy’s, the Destiny Halloween 2016 festival, as stated earlier, end’s on the 8th of November
so get playing soon all Destiny fans! Good luck and may RNG be with you.
